[ENG-SPN] An enchanted castle in Galicia / Un castillo encantado de Galicia

In the misty lands of Lugo, not far from the border with the lands of La Coruña, although not far enough from the traditional path that takes the pilgrim to Compostela, stopping at the notable town of Melide, an old castle reminds us, with its ghostly garrison of ivy, moss and a whole legion of colorful fungi spreading across its once powerful walls, the inexorable passage of the cruelest and most powerful of enemies: Time.

This is the Castelo, as in Galicia they call the penitents castles, of Pambre: precisely, the only castle in Galicia, which, during the bloody vicissitudes of the historic revolt of the Irmandiños - the common people against the iron power of the feudal lords - escaped assault and destruction.

En las brumosas tierras de Lugo, no lejos de la frontera con las tierras de La Coruña, aunque no lo suficientemente apartado del sendero tradicional que lleva al peregrino hacia Compostela, haciendo escala en la notable villa de Melide, un viejo castillo recuerda, con su fantasmal guarnición de yedras, musgo y toda una legión de hongos coloridos desparramándose por sus, otrora, poderosas paredes, el paso inexorable del más cruel y poderoso de los enemigos: el Tiempo.

Se trata del Castelo, tal y como en Galicia denominan a los penitentes castillos, de Pambre: precisamente, el único castillo de Galicia, que, durante los cruentos avatares de la histórica revuelta de los Irmandiños -el pueblo llano contra el férreo poder de los señores feudales- escapó al asalto y a la destrucción.
