[ENG-SPN] Along the Coast of Death: Noya / Por la Costa de la Muerte: Noya

GALICIA 2014- 598_edited.jpg

Within that ancestral Galicia in which, as incredible as it may seem, the old myths are still stubbornly reluctant to allow themselves to be carried away by the metaphorical rivers of oblivion, there are places, located on the edge of that imposing Coast of Death, that so many legends and tragedies it accumulates and that, in addition, directs travelers and pilgrims towards that end of the world marked by the lonely and wild Cape of Finisterre, which inevitably leaves a deep mark on the soul.

One such place is Noya: a city that seduces with its picturesque maritime charm, whose ancient traditions insist that it was founded by a granddaughter of Noah, named Noela, who arrived on these shores after that tragedy, known as the Universal Flood, which completely changed the face of the world known until then. But Noya is also a faithful recipient of that brilliant architecture, Romanesque in essence and Compostelan in terms of design, which has, in its ancient church of Saint Martin, one of the most outstanding and fascinating examples of the stonemasonry schools of what was a dark architect of the Court of King Ferdinand II of Leon and today, recognized as the genius who built the wonderful Portico of Glory of the Cathedral of Compostela: Master Mateo.

It is a very beautiful coastal city, located on the banks of the estuary, with a lot of charm and many mysteries.
