The traveler, who, taking the main road that heads towards one of those immeasurable medieval settings that is the Castilian town of Pedraza, is very surprised when, unexpectedly, he stumbles upon it and, seduced by its particular beauty, decides to a stop on your way. The solitude of the place is striking, an environment that seems to be privileged, where the backdrop is topped by the imposing frame of the abrupt silhouette of a metaphorical sleeping giant, which is a mountain range, that of Guadarrama, which separates, like an imaginary border, what was formerly known as the two Castiles: the Old and the New.

The traveler knows that he is facing one of the monumental exponents of the sacred architecture of Old Castile: the same one, whose infinite paths still preserve the echo of the passage of illustrious figures - such as the one who wrote some notable verses to death of his father, Jorge Manrique or like that Archpriest of Hita, who in one of the nearby towns was captivated by the beauty of a shepherdess - and also feels that the beauty and harmony of the ancient hermitage caresses the soul like a breath of fresh air, also reminding you, with pride, of that heritage wealth, which, unfortunately, few know how to appreciate today.

El viajero, que, tomando la carretera general que se dirige hacia uno de esos inconmensurables escenarios medievales que es el pueblo castellano de Pedraza, se sorprende, y mucho, cuando, inesperadamente, se tropieza con ella y seducido por su particular belleza, decide hacer un alto en su camino. Llama poderosamente la atención la soledad del lugar, un entorno, diríase que privilegiado, donde el telón de fondo queda rematado por el imponente marco de la abrupta silueta de un metafórico gigante dormido, que es una sierra, la de Guadarrama, que separa, cual una imaginaria frontera, lo que antiguamente era conocido como las dos Castillas: la Vieja y la Nueva.

Sabe, el viajero, que se encuentra frente a uno de los monumentales exponentes de la arquitectura sagrada de la Vieja Castilla: esa misma, cuyos infinitos caminos todavía conservan el eco del paso de personajes ilustres -como el que hizo unas notables coplas a la muerte de su padre, Jorge Manrique o como aquél Arcipreste de Hita, que por uno de los pueblos cercanos se quedara prendado de la belleza de una pastora- y siente, además, que la belleza y armonía de la milenaria ermita, acaricia el alma como un soplo de aire fresco, recordándole, también, con orgullo, esa riqueza patrimonial, que, lamentablemente, pocos saben apreciar hoy en día.
