[Movie review] [Eng | Esp] All Quiet On The Western Front | War leaves no winners
Welcome my dear internet travelers who have suffered the misfortunes of war and thank you very much for having made a temporary stop in my post, I am not a person who likes movies about war because it is often idealized, however when I saw a recommendation for "All Quiet On The Western Front" it made it look interesting and curiosity got the better of me. Without more to add, we are going to enlist ourselves because we are about to begin.
Bienvenidos mis queridos viajeros del internet que han sufrido las desgracias de la guerra y muchas gracias por haber hecho una parada temporal en mi post, no soy una persona que le gusten las películas sobre la guerra debido a que muchas veces se idealiza la misma, no obstante cuando vi una recomendación de "All Quiet On The Western Front" que la hacía ver interesante y me pudo la curiosidad. Sin más que agregar vamos a enlistarnos pues estamos por comenzar.
All Quiet On The Western Front was released in 2022, it is based on the novel of the same name written by Erich Maria Remarque published in 1929, the film was directed by Edward Berger and produced by Amusement Park Films and Sliding Down Rainbows Entertainment. It is a story of drama and war action, it focuses on Paul Bäumer, a seventeen-year-old German boy who is excited about the war and who together with his group of friends decides to enlist against the will of his parents due to the great positive propaganda that was had about the war, unfortunately this is not at all how they paint it and he will learn this in the cruelest and harshest way that exists.
All Quiet On The Western Front fue estrenada en 2022, se encuentra basada en la novela homónima escrita por Erich Maria Remarque publicada en 1929, el filme fue dirigido por Edward Berger y producida por Amusement Park Films y Sliding Down Rainbows Entertainmen. Es una historia de drama y acción bélico, se enfoca a Paul Bäumer un joven alemán de diecisiete años que se encuentra emocionado por la guerra y que en conjunto con su grupo de amigos decide enlistarse en contra de la voluntad de sus padres debido a la gran propaganda positiva que se tenía sobre la guerra, lamentablemente está no es en absoluto como la pintan y aprenderá esto de la forma más cruel y dura que existe.

The soundtrack is completely melancholic and depressing to the point that it fits perfectly with the sad tone of the film, reinforcing the discouraging note that the tape handles at all times.

The world building is exceptional in showing the cruelty to which German soldiers were subjected during the First World War, this is shown in easily noticeable details such as the origin of the clothes they wear, the food they are given and even the totalitarian and inhumane posture displayed by all the superiors of the army. All this lays the foundations for a context that shows a cruel and ruthless situation to which the recruits must submit; In turn, it is worth noting how chaotic and oppressive the battlefield turns out to be, once again being a correct representation of what it meant to be in those trenches, highlighting the abundance of both shots and corpses and amputated body parts.
La construcción de mundo es excepcional al mostrar la crueldad a la que eran sometidos los soldados alemanes durante la primera guerra mundial, esto se muestra con detalles fácilmente notables como la procedencia de las vestimentas que usan, la comida que se les da e incluso la postura totalitaria e inhumana que se muestra por parte de todos los superiores del ejército. Todo esto sienta las bases para un contexto que muestra una situación cruel y despiadada a la cual se deben someter los reclutas; a su vez, cabe destacar lo caótico y agobiante que resulta ser el campo de batalla, siendo nuevamente una correcta representación de lo que significaba estar en esas trincheras destacandose la abundancia tanto de disparos como de cadáveres y partes del cuerpo amputadas.
The plot is extremely heartbreaking to the point that both the suffering and the impotence of the soldiers is palpable and makes you feel compassion for the dire situation they are going through. This makes the viewer ignore the side they belong to and feel genuine compassion for the boys. This is reinforced by the large number of bloody and visceral scenes that are shown throughout the film, making clear the message that war only leaves a trail of death and misfortune for everyone. those involved. The duration of the film is a risky bet, however it was the right choice because thanks to it, issues such as the uncertainty of soldiers on the battlefield, the precarious conditions of their lives and the high level of manipulation and intimidation used by army leaders to keep their subordinates following orders can be better explored.
La trama es sumamente desgarrante al punto de que tanto el sufrimiento como la impotencia de los soldados es palpable y te hace sentir compasión por la situación tan nefasta que se encuentran atravesando, esto logra que el espectador obvie el bando al que pertenecen y sienta una genuina compasión por los chicos, lo anterior se refuerza con la gran cantidad de escenas sangrientas y viscerales que se muestran a lo largo de la cinta dejando en claro el mensaje de que con la guerra solo se deja un rastro de muerte y desgracias para todos los implicados. La duración del filme es una apuesta arriesgada, no obstante fue la elección correcta debido a que gracias a esta es que se puede explorar de mejor forma temas como la incertidumbre de los soldados en el campo de batalla, las condiciones precarias de sus vidas y el gran nivel empleado tanto de manipulación como de intimidación usado por los líderes del ejercito para mantener a sus subordinados acatando ordenes.
The previously mentioned themes are very well executed and generate a genuine empathy from the viewer towards all the suffering that is presented and to which the protagonist must submit, however, it is necessary to also highlight how well achieved the feeling of anxiety that is transmitted to the viewer is that everything is so oppressive that even in moments of relaxation it makes you feel restless and with the expectation that this calm will fade to give rise to a new situation of action and tragedy.
Los temas previamente mencionados son muy bien ejecutados y generan una genuina empatía del espectador hacia todo el sufrimiento que se presenta y al que debe someterse el protagonista, sin embargo, es menester destacar también lo bien lograda que está la sensación de ansiedad que se transmite al espectador siendo que todo resulta tan agobiante que incluso en los momentos de relajación te hace sentir intranquilo y a la expectativa de que esa calma se desvanezca para dar pie a una nueva situación de acción y tragedia.
The characters are interesting and are a crucial piece of the film, not because they have a great level of depth but because of the message they represent. Most of them are underage youth who have a wrong idea of war due to the false propaganda that is being handled in their country, this ends up detonating in a strong clash with the cruel and ruthless reality with which they must face. In this section, the film manages to make you become fond of this due to their precarious situation, the foregoing is reinforced by the fact that they are young and men who have their own goals and aspirations that are sabotaged by the twisted and ambitious ideals of their leaders, reflecting the impotence of being forced to choose between dying at the hands of their comrades accused of treason or risking trying to survive the rain of shots and explosions.
Los personajes son interesantes y son una pieza crucial de la cinta no por tener un gran nivel de profundidad sino por el mensaje que representan, la mayoría son jóvenes menores de edad los cuales tienen una idea errada de la guerra debido a la propaganda falsa que se maneja en su país, esto termina detonando en un fuerte choque con la cruel y despiadada realidad con la que se deben enfrentar. En este apartado el filme logra que te encariñes con estos debido a su situación precaria, lo anterior se refuerza por el hecho de que son jóvenes y hombres los cuales tienen sus propias metas y aspiraciones que se ven saboteadas por ideales retorcidos y ambiciosos de sus líderes, reflejando esa impotencia de estar obligados a elegir entre morir a manos de sus camaradas acusados de traición o arriesgarse a intentar sobrevivir a la lluvia de disparos y explosiones
All Quiet On The Western Front is one of those films that are difficult to watch due to the large amount of death and cruelty it contains. It could be considered that it makes its characters suffer too much, but since it is a representation of the worst moments of humanity, it is fair and necessary that it have that level of brutality. It is for all this that it deserves 5 stars out of 7, it is a well-executed film that seeks and manages to demonstrate the atrocities that unfortunately must be experienced during a war.
All Quiet On The Western Front es de esos filmes que son difíciles de ver producto de la gran cantidad de muerte y crueldad que alberga, se podría considerar que hace sufrir demasiado a sus personajes pero al ser una representación de los peores momentos de la humanidad es justo y necesario que tenga ese nivel de brutalidad. Es por todo ello que merece 5 estrellas de 7, es una cinta bien ejecutada que busca y consigue demostrar las atrocidades que lamentablemente se deben experimentar durante una guerra.

Esta trama me ha dado interés, me intriga. Es por el contexto texto de la guerra y el escenario que vislumbra. Esos temas siempre me han llamado la atención. La crudeza se ve que impacta o sorprende. Significa que hay un buen trabajo detrás.
La verdad es que es algo a destacar de entre el montón, si te gusta el tema de la guerra y las desgracias que está dejo a su paso debo decir que está es sin lugar a dudas una cinta para ti la cual disfrutaras enteramente. I thought this film was absolutely fantastic and does a magnificent job of showcasing the horrors of war. I had read the book many years ago and was impressed with how well they stuck to the source material as well. This is something I recommend to everyone out there. good choice!

Saludos amigo, tampoco son muy fanático de las películas de guerra, sin duda debes en cuando me animo ver una y esta que nos compartes la vi y desde que empezó hasta que termina es una trama increíble, llena de mucha tensión y sobre todo la realidad que esos soldados tienen que pasar en pleno conflicto, siendo algo que se necesita de mucha valentía, corazón y ganas de luchar pro la nación. Además una producción que estuvo nominada a varios premios si mal no recuerdo, por lo excelente que fue. Las guerras seguirán existiendo por siempre.
A mí siempre me han llamado la atención este tipo de temas, más que todo cuando muestran la realidad de las cosas como la guerra. Estoy pendiente de ver está 😉✨
La guerra… la guerra nunca cambia. Arrojan a la muerte a personas que no tienen nada que ver en el conflicto de intereses, para defender a personas que no sufren el rigor de la batalla. Y al final todos pierden.
Nadie gana.
Una filosofía muy acertada y triste a partes iguales, mis respetos por ese pensamiento interesante.
