[Movie review] [Eng | Esp] Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey
Welcome my dear blood-loving internet travelers and thank you very much for making a temporary stop in my post, the Slasher subgenre is a perfect option when looking to enjoy a film in which the blood and guts of more than one person will be exposed, if the above is combined with an innocent figure par excellence that has always accompanied children such as Winnie the Pooh, the result is the film entitled "Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey" which I really wanted to see. how they transformed this iconic character into an emotionless psychopath.
Bienvenidos mis queridos viajeros del internet amantes de la sangre y muchas gracias por hacer una parada temporal en mi post, el subgénero Slasher es una opción perfecta cuando se busca disfrutar de una cinta en la que las sangres y vísceras de más de una persona estarán expuestas, si lo anterior se combina con una figura inocente por excelencia que ha acompañado desde siempre a los niños como lo es Winnie Pooh da como resultado la cinta titulada "Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey" a la cual le tenía muchas ganas por ver cómo transformaban a este personaje icónico en un psicópata sin sentimientos.
Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey was released in 2023, directed by Rhys Frake-Waterfield and produced by Jagged Edge Productions, it has a duration of 1 hour and 24 minutes. It is a slasher horror film, it focuses on Winnie the Pooh, Piglet and the rest of their friends, who really enjoyed Christopher's company, who was not only their friend but also provided them with food, so this was basically the reason for their survival; Unfortunately, everything reaches a breaking point when the boy begins to grow up and decides to stop going to the forest to continue with his life, abandoning his friends to his fate. Seeing themselves besieged by hunger and the difficulty of surviving, Pooh and Piglet decide to eat the rest of their friends, which stopped the hunger but also took their sanity, leaving them only a hatred and resentment for the humans whom they stopped seeing as friends and only began to see them as prey.

Es un filme de terror slasher, se enfoca a Winnie Pooh, Piglet y al resto de sus amigos, los cuales disfrutaban mucho de la compañía de Christopher el cual no solo era su amigo sino que también les proporcionaba comida por lo que este era básicamente la razón de su supervivencia; desgraciadamente, todo llega a un punto de quiebre cuando el niño comienza crecer y decide dejar de ir al bosque para seguir con su vida abandonando a su suerte a sus amigos. Al verse asediados por el hambre y la dificultad de sobrevivir Pooh y Piglet deciden comerse al resto de amigos lo que hizo cesar el hambre pero también se llevó su cordura dejándoles únicamente un odio y rencor por los humanos a los cuales dejaron de ver como amigos y solo los comenzaron a ver cómo presas.

The soundtrack is the typical one that is usually used in this type of film, it helps to generate a certain atmosphere of discomfort and intrigue, but apart from that, it doesn't have much to highlight.
La banda sonora es la típica que se suele emplear en este tipo de filmes, ayuda a generar cierto ambiente de incomodidad y de intriga pero fuera de ello no tiene mucho que destacar.
The construction of the world has absolutely nothing to highlight, it is the typical movie where everything happens in a forest and nobody cares about it or does anything about it, if there is something that should be highlighted, it is the various horrible creations that are presented throughout the film that are used to torture in one way or another the various humans who fall prey to the abominable duo.
La construcción de mundo no tiene absolutamente nada que destacar, es la típica película en donde todo sucede en un bosque y nadie se preocupa por eso ni hace nada al respecto, si hay algo que se debe destacar son las diversas creaciones horribles que se van presentando a lo largo de la cinta que se emplean para torturar de una u otra forma a los diversos humanos que caen presa del abominable dúo.
The plot is not complex at all, in fact I could say that it is exactly the same as the rest of the slashers out there, focusing on a couple of psychopaths who only stand out for being memorable characters from a children's story. Apart from the above, there is not much to highlight, the scenes are bloody to die for and the different moments it contains are both grotesque and unpleasant, although they are not bad, it is not something that has not been done before or even taken further in other films of the same genre but better executed; This makes it clear that they only seek to stand out simply because of the characters that star in the film.
La trama no es nada compleja, de hecho podría decir que es exactamente lo mismo que el resto de slashers que existen al centrarse en un par de psicópatas que solo se destacan por el hecho de ser personajes memorables de un cuento infantil. Fuera de lo anterior no hay mucho que destacar, las escenas son sangrientas a morir y los diferentes momentos que contiene son tanto grotescos como desagradables, si bien no están mal no es algo que no se haya hecho antes o incluso llevado más allá en otros filmes del mismo género pero mejor ejecutados; esto deja en evidencia que solo se busca destacar simplemente por los personajes que protagonizan la cinta.
Those who have seen other films belonging to this genre will understand how he usually treats his characters, if something characterizes the slasher it is the fact that the characters are simple cannon fodder with which the murderer will have fun giving him the most savage and agonizing deaths possible, so there is not much to highlight about this. However, it is worth mentioning that I find the appearance of both Pooh and Piglet very deplorable, they look completely low budget and look too stuffy and unpleasant, since their appearance looks like that of a poorly made doll by looking more regrettable than anything else, it would have been better to make it unpleasant on purpose than to fail miserably the way it did.
Aquellos que hayan visto otras cintas pertenecientes a este género entenderán como suele tratar a sus personajes, si algo caracteriza al slasher es el hecho de que los personajes son simple carne de cañón con la cual el asesino se divertirá dándole las muertes más salvajes y agonizantes posibles por lo que no hay mucho que destacar de esto. Sin embargo, cabe mencionar que me parece muy deplorable el aspecto tanto de Pooh como de Piglet, se ven completamente de bajo presupuesto y con un aspecto demasiado acartonado y desagradable, siendo que su aspecto luce igual que el de un muñeco mal hecho al verse más lamentables que otra cosa, hubiese sido mejor hacerlo desagradable adrede que fracasar estrepitosamente de la forma en la que lo hizo.
Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey does nothing that makes it stand out to be considered a good representative of the genre, it uses the fact of having a well-known character to try to hang on to that fame and distort its already consolidated image, all of this results in a tremendous failure in which the lack of intention to build a decent plot is noted, denoting the intention of showing an icon doing unpleasant things. It is for all this that it deserves 1.5 stars out of 7, they had the possibility of creating a new Michael Myers and only ended up making a pathetic addict and degenerate bear with mental problems.
Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey no hace nada que lo destaque para considerarse un buen representante del género, se vale del hecho de tener un personaje conocido para intentar colgarse de esa fama y tergiversar la imagen ya consolidada de este, todo esto resulta en una tremenda falla en la cual se nota la falta de intención de construir una trama decente y denotandose la intención de mostrar a un icono haciendo cosas desagradables. Es por todo ello que merece 1.5 estrellas de 7, tenían la posibilidad de crear a un nuevo Michael Myers y solo terminaron haciendo a un patético adicto y degenerado oso con problemas mentales.

Hola! Hace tiempo ví una publicidad al respecto y de alguna forma también sentí lo que comentabas, que toman la fama de los personajes para hacer una película que intenta romper con lo que asociamos a este personaje infantil, de forma negativa.
Se tenía la oportunidad de deconstruir al personaje con una historia totalmente diferente y bastante disonante con la concepción primaria del mismo, lamentándolo mucho solo utiliza lo que ya se hizo sin poner esfuerzo en hacer algo nuevo. Realmente si amigo, creo que la película del Joker (Guasón) entraría en la categoría de lo que nos fuera gustado ver, un personaje que conocemos y de repente lo plantean desde otro punto de vista y termina haciendo conexión con el espectador. 🤗🤗🤗

That was a darker explanation for why Pooh became a slasher killer than I expected It. Apart from that, I knew this movie would be just another attempt at cheap horror like a lot of weird slasher films of the 90s.

Cambiar o retorcer la imagen de este personaje, solo me produce una honda tristeza. Hay personas que parecen disfrutar al ver caer a los buenos en la oscuridad.
No hay forma que algo así pueda terminar siendo algo bueno.
Considero que deconstruir a un personaje tiene un gran mérito si se logra hacer correctamente, evidentemente el hecho de que la base sea un personaje tan adorable e icónico como Winnie Pooh hace que la tarea de desligarse de las raíces del personaje sea algo casi imposible. Agradecido como siempre de que te tomes el tiempo de leer otra de mis reseñas, un fuerte abrazo desde la distancia te mando mi estimado. 💜🤗
