Book Review: The Price of Tomorrow: Why Deflation Is the Key to an Abundant Future by Jeff Booth

I've heard Jeff Booth on a number of podcasts, and he seems like a really cool easy-going guy. When I bought this book I thought it was going to be more of an economics book. While there was some of that, it was mostly about the technological and social trends that cause deflation, and that deflation is unavoidable. He didn't really get down into the nitty gritty of deflation and why some consider it good, and others consider it bad. He does make it clear that no amount of money printer can stem the deflationary tide of technology, and the attempts of debasement will only lead to a reset of the monetary system.

While I agree with the overall premise of this book, I feel there is nothing we can do to prevent the inevitable collapse and reset. People just need to be aware of it, and begin to search for life rafts-- hard assets like Bitcoin, real estate, and precious metals to name a few. Make no mistake, when we emerge from that collapse, unprepared people will be in for a world of hurt.

Despite Booth being a Bitcoiner, his coverage on the topic was minimal but balanced. He left it open that Bitcoin may not be the only digital money that evolves. I don't have an issue with that necessarily since there are ample books on the topic of Bitcoin already. The book offers a thought provoking view of modern trends, and presents them using different frameworks, but doesn't offer a whole lot of depth. Clocking in at 230 pages, how could it? Still, if you are looking for a starting point or quick read regarding contemporary macroeconomic trends, this book is a good choice. You could easily explore any of the topics he presents in greater depth.

Alright. Awesome recommendations. Lol. I find myself always curious about stuff regarding finance and technology even when my brain is saying, ugh! I'm not strong enough for this. But I can deal with 230 pages. Lol. Perhaps even take it up from there.

And I think that is a good book I should find a way to read if it is about economic trends... Never thought a bitcoiner would have the time to write a post 😅 really cool.

Maybe he had his reasons for not going deep in the book, well there are so many books to balance it all up.

Nice and brief review on the book by the way.
