El tiempo esculpe la piedra.
Tiempo es duración en las cosas,
estas su materia, su cuerpo.

El agua cava sus orificios,
sus cuevas, sus undosas grutas,
en la sustancia sólida de la tierra.

Es el viento grabando
su escritura de años, sus silbos
sobre el espesor esquivo del mundo.

La piedra permanece, estoica,
y la arena canta sus caricias
de mar a su arte anónimo.

Time sculpts the stone.
Time is duration in things,
its matter, its body.

Water digs its orifices,
its caves, its ungodly grottoes,
in the solid substance of the earth.

It is the wind engraving
its writing of years, its whispers
on the elusive thickness of the world.

The stone remains, stoic,
and the sand sings its caresses
of the sea to its anonymous art.
