Convocados por el nuevo llamado de Club de Poesía (ver aquí), decidí participar con este ejercicio poético.

Summoned by the new call of Club de Poesía (see here), I decided to participate with this poetic exercise.

Los contrarios se atraen y se repelen,
dice el viejo adagio.
La historia refulge oscuramente
de enormes enanos del sentimiento,
delirantes y obnubilados de poder,
fingidores que ocultan su miseria.

Orgullosos en su nulidad,
cautivan a menguados espíritus,
los envuelven en sortilegios verbales,
los engatusan con falsas verdades,
hasta convertirlos, a su imagen
y semejanza, en simulacros.

Desconocedores de sus límites,
son solo perpetradores de la hibris
que los desorbita y enceguece.

Opposites attract and repel,
says the old adage.
History glows darkly
of enormous dwarfs of sentiment,
delirious and deluded of power,
pretenders who hide their misery.

Proud in their nullity,
they enthrall dwindling spirits,
they wrap them in verbal spells,
they cajole them with false truths,
until they turn them, in their own image
and likeness, into simulacra.

Unaware of their limits,
they are only perpetrators of the hybris
that disorients and blinds them.
