The Fright Of Funding One's Life With Uncertainty
So I have managed to secure an apartment, not that it's my first choice apartment, but after searching for 6 weeks, and being rejected countless times for not having a 9 to 5 job and also for being a young man, I decided to settle for a house in an estate. The electricity here is quite mediocre.
The Estate is owned by a group of oligarchs, so they can afford to power their houses with solar systems and generators, which makes it unnecessary for them to move a motion to the Power holding company to increase the electricity rate in the estate.
These are wealthy people, and it's hard to see a person who doesn't own a car in this place, either they're renting or they own a property.
The Price For Choicelessness
This wasn't my first choice because of the electricity, but this was the only place where the agent and the owner of the house were willing to accept people who aren't 9 to 5ers there was no sort of financial discrimination whatsoever.
The house was quite pricey, but we were already beginning to spend too much on agency, time, and transportation. I said "we" because I decided to partner with a friend to pay the rent.
The house was pricy and this was why I decided to get a person to share the rent with. It's a two-bedroom apartment ensuite, now the challenge lies with getting furniture, a generator, and other things.
Leaving For The Unknown
The challenge is quite crazy and for the first time in my life, I'm scared of leaving my family to face the real world out there. I mean... I'm trying to maintain my finances, and make plans for setting up my dream business in the middle of next year.
All these big plans with little or no money are overwhelming. It feels so scary to start one's life with uncertainty. I'll be 29 in September, and I appreciate how un-bad my life has surprisingly turned out.
I've battled one of the craziest health challenges and because I've created a limitless mentality it's made it possible for me to thrive where others are comfortable with just living. I'm scared that I might run into bankruptcy, taking care of life's expenses.

The Insecurities That Comes with Being Broke
What if I get anyone pregnant at the moment, can I financially handle this? I'm kidding, I won't do that. But we have to understand that when we're limited in our finances, we tend to imagine the worst-case scenario.
For example, being financially free makes people quell crazy thoughts regarding expenditures, but when people don't have money, they'll be imagining getting into financial emergencies where they won't be able to spend money.
While I'm positive about experiencing some massive change in my life in two years or three, I'm quite concerned about the present, my survival, and my ability to stay afloat. I'm experiencing crazy difficulties, the thoughts of being broke and on the streets.
A Place Of No Return
This imagination keeps me up at night and motivates every hustle I've managed to muster. However, everyone that's uncertain of the future has crises in the present. I try to think that if I was biologically fitter than I am, I might have not had the motivation to chase the unthinkable.
Sometimes I make stupid, blind, and crazy money decisions but at the end of the day, it turns out my fear of loss and failure is why I tend to overly worry. I've gotten to that stage of my life where every mistake comes with a repercussion.
This can be consequential. I like to think that I've begun my journey and while it's scary for me, I hope it turns out well.

It's scary and I hope your landlord is a nice person. On a side note, why do you need a generator?

To generate electricity, the power supply isn't really up to par, so we need a generator

You better zip up bro! lol

You are man now, you can definitely impregnate someone and remember to invite me for ceremonies because who knows I might support you with drinks.. lol. I have this same feeling when I was setting up my apartment but I’m stable now and back to my normal savings

Loool I don't think impregnate someone at the moment, I think we'll both starve 🤣🤣🤣. Nevertheless, thanks for the support, I'll be counting on that drink someday. I hope I settle and back to my normal savings.

You will be just fine as you always have

This is very relatable to be honest.
I thought of also doing the same and starting a life all over.
I just finished my housemanship and somehow it appears that I am not so interested in killing myself as a doctor.
I believe everyone will be fine.
I also feel success has to do with environment and the relationship that is been made.
Anyways, I wish you luck in all your endeavours.
Las las everybody go dey alright
Starting a life is very expensive, this I must say. Especially when you've become a providing man, a potential breadwinner.
Well, eventually you'll need to stop squatting or maybe staying in one's family home would inevitably end. Anyways I'm just hoping not to go broke because, I'm tired already from spending too much. Thanks for your concern

You won't go broke
I often downplay this reality, and though there are times wherein I am reminded to it just like now I find it frustrating that I am not able to be consistent on motivating myself to hustle and work hard.
I can relate in some points as I was once afraid of being out there leaving my nest but those hardships made me what I am ( though lacking ) it was a great ride still learning and open to learn more and have it applied.

The new law in Nigeria about Landlord and Yahoo Boys will cause serious challenge for genuine online-freelance workers.
The Nigerian government is so quick to dish out laws that are disadvantageous to the Youth, and they are quick to prosecute those who falter. But if it were to do things for the betterment of the people, they'll be sluggish about it.
I'm sure it was part of the reasons why many Landlords kept on asking if you were a 9-5 worker. They also want to save their a**.
This is a great step you're about the take and it's one that is fraught with challenges and difficulties.
It hasn't been easy and I won't be easy, but I believe you will achieve your dreams. You are determined amidst every set-back. Nothing will stop your shine baba!
And by the way, no give girl belle o 🥲 It will surely destabilise you the more.

Thanks for the encouraging words big man, Omo, it's crazy, I mean, how many 9 to 5ers even have enough good jobs to even live by? The only job in Nigeria that isn't scarce is teaching and that's because it's terrible when it comes to income.
I admit that yahoo is really, making life difficult and landlords have to make tough decisions but even as at that, I think we've gotten to that situation where the country should understand the opportunities on the internet and cut people a break, it's dehumanizing to think yahoo is the only internet based gig.

We live in a backward country where those at the helm of affairs prefer using old, ancient and archaic methods to run the country. When it is advantageous to them they switch it up and use them, but when it is more advantageous for the people, they cut it off.
When people compare 79 years Old Biden with 79 years old Buhari (Football age), I just laugh at how they celebrate their ignorance. Especially when they use this as a ground to support the Grandfathers to rule Nigeria.
The Oldies in the Government positions in Nigeria are not technological exposed as those in US. Why then the comparison? Maybe, it just to show their level of idiocy or "clownism."
I hope we fight to get things right next year, if not the little hope and faith that people have in Nigeria now will be extinguished. Na japa things go dey
That's by the way!
The law is truly unjust.
Infact, I can say without any iota of doubt that Nigeria hasn't made any concrete positive effort to solve this menace.
When there's a problem, you find the cause or the reason behind it. You can only solve the problem by addressing the reason/cause. But in their wisdom, na something else dem dey do.
When you don't solve the problem by addressing the reason/cause, people will keep finding more ways to beat any restrictions you give.
They aren't ready to address it, honestly!
