Education in Nigeria is one of the most thriving business models and this is because of the value we place on formal education almost above every other thing. Another thing is that tertiary educational institutions have myriads of opportunities for people who are aiming to solve problems and take care of salient needs.

Students are the main providers and they're the ones who open the door to hundreds of businesses to thrive. In this video, however, I talked about how students recognize some of these opportunities, and take advantage of the readily available free survey that's given to them by their fellow students to set up a thriving business.

I talked about time being the biggest need of a Nigerian student and how some of their biggest problems is how to create enough of it to run their problems. Most students easily pay for the time by giving money to their fellow students to solve some of the problems of mismanagement of time and resources.

In this video, I talked about three major business opportunities that are readily accessible to Nigerian students and how they make turn these opportunities into side hustles.

Thank you for sharing such useful ideas @josediccus. I have often said that money is around us just that they are disguised. Many students tend to concentrate solely on pursuing traditional white-collar jobs, disregarding other potential avenues for job creation. However, there are numerous overlooked job opportunities that can prove to be highly lucrative. It all boils down to observing our surroundings and exploring ways in which ideas can be monetized.

Nigerian schools are have good business models and for students, some of the ones we have here embraces that hustle. Some people end up getting gainful employment at their institutions after college, by continuing with the hustles they're on. Thank you for the comment.

Thank you for sharing, not every student can manage business and academics but for those who can balance it, it’s a great opportunity. I used to sell thrift clothes 10 years ago while I was In ABU remedial school and it helped a lot.

Yeah, not every student can truly manage it like you've said. I saw people who did, they needed that money and they took advantage of the opportunity. Oh wow, so you also did sell? The profit opportunity is often good as the adequate demand is there.

(Edited)

Assignment. Laundry. Saving. Thrift Clothes. Writing Material. Computer.

Time in the right environment can be cashed in. I was thinking Computer will come first. But it's still good you added this.

Students do have a lot of opportunities in the school environment if they are looking hard.

I agree that Nigerian schools are the right environment to start businesses because entrepreneurs can always cash in on the population. This profit will be made.

Thank you for sharing, Jose.

Thanks for taking the time to watch. Yrah, everything I mentioned, I've seen students who took their destiny in their hands and made money out of it. I was one of those people who actually made small cash from computer work and other excesses. Thrift clothes sold a lot for some other people. I particularly did assignments for others, not for the money but for the experience of it, although I was paid in other formats.

Lol. Are you telling someone who knows almost all your stories and escapades? Hehehehe

Hahaha I forgot that my comedy openmic actually narrated a lot of that. Students devise ways to do things, some of these ways can be ingenious. It gets things done, the way doesn't matter, lol, the result is what do.

Hehehehe.... A large percentage of your blog is about you remember? 😉

I agree, as long as it gets things done, students have to do what they have to do.

The economy revolves around a lot of things and I like how you mention services that students can get involved in. It's more than just working for some big corporation and people are always looking for a way to solve some of their issues.

Yeah, students are always looking for ways to get that money.

Great ideas on how college students can leverage their environment to create side hustles that will help them with fulfilling their financial needs. It will take some discipline to pull off but it is very possible. There are gaps in the college market that savvy students can fill.

It's all in the video. Although, it's a different thing for Nigerian institutions. The demographs can change a lot of things and it can even work different for different countries

Yes, it's applicable in other countries with similar demographics. Most college students will gladly subscribe to the services if it is available in their environment.

In school then my friend use to help me make my hair and will charge me less than if i had gone to a salon. There was this hair she styled for me and my sister that lives in the city have to invite her over to make the same hair for her. She paid her good money for it.

Can you imagine that. Making good money from hair making is one of those things I know quite well. That's a another great opportunity since the demand is there

This was just what I needed. Irrespective of how we may think, along the line university students need a way to wax in more money and these suggestions were very helpful ones.

Laundry and savings are new to me. Never heard of or seen people doing these ones.

They're common in south western, Nigeria and as someone who experienced the way students take advantage of laundry and savings, I can tell you that it's becoming a great source of income, since the demand is always there.

Thinking about it, it seems very lucrative and students barely have the time to wash their laundries. Having a trustworthy person do it for you can be helpful sometimes.

A trustworthy person like a lover? 🤣🤣🤣

That could be an option too. But I meant like a fellow student who does it.

All this tips are perfect and will surely pay any student who try them out, not just during school days even after school because Nigeria is not smiling financially.
Thanks

That's true. The tips would mostly work out, even after school. However, this is mostly made for people who are in Nigerian institutions. They're likely to be more successful there

I don't think I've heard about saving for other students before. I don't see that happening much here.

Thrift clothes would be the biggest way to make cash as a student in my opinion, especially if you're something with a fashion style that a lot of people admire. You literally will use your lifestyle to market your business.

At the university I'm doing my NSS right now, I noticed one of the mature medical students in one of the classes I tutor has established a small pharmacy not far from campus. And it's actually doing pretty well because it's one of the closest pharmacies to campus. The University's own pharmacy is selling at very exorbitant prices, so most students turn to him instead since his prices are relatively cheaper and he's near as well.

There's also this one guy that used to be a student here and started a small business of buying thrift stuff (not just clothes) and reselling them. That has to be the most successful student-run business I've seen since I got here. He has become popular for it and gets a lot of business.

There are so many higher institutions that sells products at very exorbitant rate. Some students take this as an advantage or an opportunity to set up something cheaper. You know it functions differently for different countries. For Nigeria it was actually different. A lot of people do not know how to save their money. So they gladly paid whoever would want to keep it for them. There are some people who even kept money with others and make sure they never had access to that money unless the purpose they wanted it for came through.

However thrift clothes seems to be very profitable in almost every place in the world. I think some of the most necessary things are feeding, clothing, shelter. Almost every student will do this and every business that is built on this will surely thrive.

Thanks and sorry for replying so late it had been a very rough day for me.

Some many opportunities in school, most of which have been of great help to me till now I learned from friends in school. Not always about helping because sometimes all it takes is to know somebody that will impact knowledge in you

Yeah, there was always this exposure and people learned from them a whole lot. I did a lot as well myself. It was tough, but doing these things were the real exposure to hustling

I did a lot while in school. Making hair, cooking, and any legit things I could get my hands on. I also did coaching... Hehe. It was tough but I excelled.

I do agree with some seeing laundry as a dirty business. Smh. Life hasn't visited them yet.

I do agree with selling too and every outlined word said. Good job😁.

Yeah, I can agree with you. Doing a lot means you were also exposed to a lot we well. People who were very creative mode some money even if it wasn't too much, I'm glad you could remember.
