Politics and Crypto: A Mixture of Water and Oil

One of the most common scenes in world politics today is very old men competing at the highest levels of government for political positions. Tinubu, a man nearing 90 years old, is ruling a country that requires active participation in governance if the Nigerian economy is to be transformed.

Interestingly, during the campaign, he avoided all forms of political debate and rejected every platform that required him to answer questions from the opposition party. People who campaigned for him claimed he was bigger than such debates, but the truth was that he was a frail old man with numerous medical issues who simply wanted to be president.

During his public speeches, he demonstrated that he was not particularly fit. He could have been at home with his grandchildren playing yoyo or enjoying his retirement years, but the desire for power and status drove him to throw everything he had at becoming president. In the United States, Joe Biden is currently campaigning for a second term against former President Donald Trump.

One would think that a developed country like the United States would know better than to send in two old guards to compete for one of the most powerful seats in world politics. Trump is not really that old; I would say he is still fit, but I just feel like he is had a shot at the presidency before, and I do not think he did anything particularly spectacular.

In terms of Biden, I believe he is anti-crypto, but I also believe he is not well enough to run for another term. However, it begs the question of why these people want to be president at any cost, even if it means giving up their seat to people with better and brighter ideas who are even younger enough to govern. Politics is the same everywhere; politicians are almost identical.

Although I believe West African politics is still in the stone age, in the sense that people practically exchange their votes for a loaf of bread, and elections are prone to manipulation and rigging, overall politicians follow the same strategy: govern at all costs.

Politicians despise cryptocurrency

......owing to the fact that the majority of active and powerful politicians are over the age of 60, and some of their ideas are incompatible with modernization. Crypto is not by the book; it is new, shiny, and reeks of rebellion and freedom, and the government opposes anything that moves people away from centralization, crude banking, and shared ownership.

It is not rocket science, but many people still do not understand why 100% of the world's governments have not adopted cryptocurrency. If it was a cure for cancer, an anti-aging vaccine, or some other strange research, almost every government in the world would have thrown in all of their money.

However, the government is not only not adopting cryptocurrency, but they are also not allowing people to adopt it without difficulty.

It begs the question: why are not younger people actively involved in governance?

It is simple

Politics is a game of experience, not technical expertise. In reality, the ability to govern is not solely dependent on experience, but we believe we have it completely. The process is bureaucratic. This means that a young person may not be able to start early enough, climb all of the available ladders, and reach the top where their decisions will be meaningful.

This typically means that you must accumulate wealth and power over many years, if not decades, before reaching the point where they will begin to matter, and they will be 60 or older.

Take a look at someone like Trump. He was completely anti-crypto, but he is starting to realize it is the new thing. Now, I do not think he is pro-crypto; I think he is managed to be neutral rather than completely anti or pro. So he is using cryptocurrency to campaign for himself, despite the fact that we all know it is a gimmick.

Why can not Biden use cryptocurrency to campaign as well?

It is simple: he is as old as his ideas, and it will be difficult to persuade him to see cryptocurrency in a new light. I am not sure what the majority of Americans think, but Biden is not just old; I believe he lacks new ideas, and I do not blame him; it is difficult to be productive at his age.

He may have had it in the past, but I believe you require a fresh perspective in this day and age. Make no mistake, this is happening all over the world; old people want to rule at any cost, with old ideas, over a new generation.

Old men shouldn't be running countries... The choices here are old and older, and the older if halfway to a dementia clinic. People running for president should be young, energetic, and capable of the job. Your country deserves better as well, but I'm sure the people surrounding the current president and making a lot of money of keeping a 90 year old in power...

I don't know who's older between Biden and the president of our country, but it's bothersome that these guys are not retiring and obsessed with getting back into power. Unfortunately even younger people aren't allowed at the helm.

Hmm
That’s why we tend to see thy so many old people don’t really know so many features of their phones. I don’t want to say they are backwards but it’s looking like that. Old people will continue to bring up old ideas

How do you mean the features on their phone?

Have you ever experienced an old person asking you to help him out in doing a few things on their phones cos they can’t?

Great write up. I was wondering the same too, how does America end up with two old guys running for the highest office. Then again, I remembered that politicians are just the same, we had a young Obama, nothing much changed. In Europe there are younger presidents but they do nothing spectacular.
For me I believe one has to work hard and invest in things you believe in. None of these politicians will ever bring us dinner, pay the rent or run our homes. Everyone has to manoeuvre from where they are and try to make a good life for themselves.
Some people gave up voting altogether because they believe this world is ruled by a clique of systems and individuals already set in place. Nothing much changes globally except the continued depreciation of fiat currency.
Thank you for sharing and I wish you a wonderful new week ahead as we get into July :}

In respite to crypto, I think we need younger people eventually for crypto to be positively adopted in almost every country and government of the world. Younger people have newer ideas and are progressive

I think both presidential candidates are bad, but Biden has issues that make me question whether or not he can do his job. I didn't watch the presidential debate directly, but the videos that came out just didn't make him look well. I think the old people also need to adapt to the new times. I just wish they had better candidates and people who can actually understand what is going on.

Unfortunately these guys wouldn't let the new guys actually come to the party, and it's baffling how the whole country can only produce two old people to actually rule a huge country such as the US

Unfortunately American is taking same route with Nigerian in terms of allowing old people to take over leadership....I hope young blood with new ideas will show interest and be given a chance
.it is what it is.but I believe that when a president who understands crypto goes into power, it will affect our world positively

If old people continues to stay in power, it'll be difficult for government to align with crypto there's really no way it'll happen. Out of off 300 million Americans, I just wonder how an over 80 year old man is the only choice. It's unimaginable, as for Nigeria, our politics is even worse.

Thanks for the curation

Greetings @josediccus ,

Interesting write-up and analysis....thank you.

It's true these same faces/ideas...old or young (ie. Biden, Macron,) continue on past their ability to govern. Most probably..because their power lies not in themselves but in the forces that want them in power for their benefit.

Your title...'Politics and Crypto: A mixture of Water and Oil' states the issue for politicians at least....if it seems the populous is not aware of the issue or divided on the issue...they back away from it. Unlike the South American president who has taken Bitcoin and run with it...Bukele?. I hope for him that he is successful.

As far as Trump's position on Crytocurrency...as I understand it...in order to buy a Trump NFT..it requires ETC....and that was a couple of years ago...so he must have some personal interest in Crypto....His wife as well, is into NFTs and Solana...so some interest is legitimate. However since He is very pro- America...like any leader of any country...he must be for his own country's currency. I have heard him say...'Freedom is about having choice.'...hopefully there is room for both.

In the future...he will be considered one of America's greatest Presidents.....he has the American vote already...he is not trying to garner votes...but to send a message...perhaps, that he is not against Crypto....probably important at this point in the Economical picture....

Thank you for opportunity to discuss these ideas as if we are in one of the great Salons of 17th Century France.

NB....The Bible has this to say about a Nation's Leadership.....A Nation gets the Leadership it deserves.

Kind Regards,

Bleujay

Thanks for the comment. Honestly I don't know much about Trump, but I don't really like the man, I feel like irrespective of his wife's position or family, he's not really pro-crypto but pro-America which is not a bad thing.

The reason I think the US election is important is because it's integral to how well crypto might do in the bull market, so everyone is checking for two becomes the president of the US.

I don't think the two candidates are actually good enough, but if I were to choose a necessary evil, I'll definitely go for Trump.

Thank you for your kind reply.

Indeed, from a crypto perspective, you are correct.

Hope you are at home and not in hospital today.

Wishing you well. ^__^

I don't know if younger are any better. I mean, it's unlikely we'll have anyone becoming president in their 30s or even 40s, at least not in the real world with the current systems. Younger could be 60s, or really young could be 50s, lol.

We have a president here at the end of his second term. The running joke on him (or better said on us!) is that he became president to go on luxury vacations for free and with state protocol, live in a protocol villa and sleep. Having that experience in RL, we need to be careful what the DHF becomes...

In my country, young is like 50, and. For anyone to be 30 and be a president is really difficult, unless it's a process of coup. This is because politicians needs to go through so many processes to get to positions where they might truly matter and that's why it takes years.
I think Biden is like the Nigerian president. As for your country, I don't even know him, but I guess it's crazy. Spending the state funds and going on luxury vacations, it's not really to serve anymore but to just take advantage of the system and profit off of it..

I think it's the same everywhere. Probably it wouldn't be too smart to have a president in their 30s, at least not in a large and complicated country.

He's serving alright: his own needs. Yeah, we are the fouls for paying! It's not as easy as voters withdrawing their votes, although sometimes that can prove quite difficult even where it's possible (Hive). Many were fouled from the beginning into voting for him. Nowadays, many of them are the ones who are disappointed the most for being fouled into thinking that he would be different.
