..........Off The Pedal

It is been two days since my last post, and it already feels like forever. I have been sick, and the flu has brought on some severe fevers and other symptoms. At first, I thought I could handle it, but it did not go as quickly as I had hoped, and I spent the entire time feeling nauseous, losing appetite, and drowsy, as well as reflecting on my life and other issues.

Being on the sideline allows you to see clearly. When you are on the go, hustling for a living, living life, hanging out with people, getting a degree, cooking, or generally adding meaning to your life, you are mostly mindless and not thinking, but if you are in prison, out sick, recovering from a major surgery, or receiving a terminal diagnosis and having to put your life on hold because everything has changed, you start to see clearly.

The hectic nature of life often causes us to lose sight of the larger aspects of our lives, which is how we manage to get by without worrying about the problems that surround us.

When we are asymptomatic to life's problems, we tend to try to find meaning in other aspects of our lives and pretend the bad things do not exist; however, when we remove the things that mask our worries, we are forced to face them head on.

This morning, I remembered a person who has not posted here in a while; the person has two accounts and mostly posts on both of them every day. It takes a lot of effort to post on just one account, let alone two, and they did so for years. I have not seen the person's post in a few months, and I only realized because I have been sick myself.

Now I am wondering if it was just me who had not seen their post, or if I was too preoccupied with recent issues in my life to notice. I could not remember this person's username and am still trying to remember it, because if I do, I will make sure to check to see if they have truly stopped posting.

Sometimes they were mistaken, or they simply got tired, or they found a really demanding job, or they left, just as some people will leave Hive in the coming years. Probably it was the "downvotes" that chased them away, or maybe something serious has happened to them, I cannot tell.

Humans Are Guilty Of Being Too Busy

Until Something happens and we realize time is precious

On a social space like this, we frequently meet people, get to know them on the surface, and follow them, but sometimes something silently happens to them that we are completely unaware of.

It may take weeks, months, or even years for people to realize "oh, this person has not been here in a long time", and sometimes we realize too late. Everyone is guilty of this, and it can take a deeper level of consciousness to improve.

In reality, people hope for busy lives: work, eat, vacation, bed, sleep, family, rinse and repeat; however, something can happen to disrupt this pattern and cause you to notice something out of the ordinary about your life. Over the last few months, I have been on overdrive, trying to figure things out and forgetting I was not invincible anymore.

In my 20s, I would go weeks at full throttle, hustling for a better life, but now I can not do it, and I am just trying to push my body harder, and oops! I broke down. Returning to health will necessitate a significant amount of time off, medication, and rest.

We feel Super Strong When Things Are Going Well but something always happen.

I miss everything.

I miss not having to worry, just doing Clark Kent and Super girl stuff without it biting me back. At the end of the day, the world forgets everything.

When you are no longer available to post the next "nice content" or update, it may take months or years for someone else to notice you have not done it, and that is because life moves at an unfair pace and simply leaves you behind.

I got déjà vu reading this post. I feel like you and I have had a conversation around this some time back- people who haven’t been around that you’re just recently starting to notice.

I also haven’t posted in 2 days and whiles I am no where as consistent as you, I do feel a certain way about it. Like you, it’s because I’m sick. Have been for the past 4 days, but I’ve been pushing myself until yesterday when I just couldn’t anymore. I pray we get back on our feet soon enough.

Yeah, I think it's harder to notice when a person isn't available or hasn't posted in a while. Whether they're consistent or not, we just forget and only probably take notice when something that relates to that person juggles our memory.

I pray you get better soon, I've felt really horrible for over 3 days now and I can now only just type after the 3rd day.

Someone did take notice and texted me on Whatsapp, and I only just replied thrl today. It's harder just pushing through when your body just disagrees.

Sorry for the sickness. I hope you are recovering well. But do you really think that it's until we are hooked down by problems before we can see things well

Sorry to hear that you are sick... 🙁 I hope you will get better soon!

but if you are in prison, out sick, recovering from a major surgery, or receiving a terminal diagnosis and having to put your life on hold because everything has changed, you start to see clearly.

That's life sending us signals to slow down, to take a breath... And with getting older, those signals are coming more often, more severe... Times are changing, we are changing, but if we are listening to our bodies and our environment, we should be okay... But, there is so much noise around...

You're right, these signals do some in a man's life. For me, it's mainly been this way. Anytime I fall ill (I do, a lot anyways) and fails to get back into remission as quick as possible, it sets me back a lot psychological at least, since the passing of my only brother.
Thanks for the kind words, I appreciate a lot.

Life does move pretty fast and can leave you behind in a heart beat, a feeling I know well. In my younger years I would often work 36 hours straight without sleep, no way I would try that now! All we can do is keep up at our own pace, and being sick sure slows that down a lot. That's just life!

I'm still waiting for the $100K push... I think we all are!

I'm waiting for that 100k too, but it seems BTC is correcting and just like expected in a bull market: there are push backs and dips. I'm confident we'll see 100k before the end of December, it's coming, it's even exciting that it keeps stalling.

Hope you feel better now!

About people taking a break from Hive... sometimes life happens. There may be other issues why they stopped posting (as you said, possible downvotes), but we sometimes need to remember life is more than Hive, as much as we love it. And sometimes we are reminded of that.

You're right, sometimes we just leave everything as there are far more bigger and important things than Hive in real life, however, for this person I was truly worried about them, as they hardly even do anything without Hive.

Thanks for the kind words

Get well soon mate, it's true that we are often too busy to realize what are we doing and why we doing that, and those bed rest time are giving us time to think more with some pause from our busy activity

Yeah, those times you pause and everything seems to stop and you begin to wonder. I guess being very occupied and being busy stops us from actually thinking about our lives.
Thanks for the kind words

When we feel unwell, we easily lay aside even the things we find joy doing because obviously we can't help it. Same thing applicable to other people who may be taking break from hive, probably because of different reasons and sometimes, it takes a little while before we could notice their absence
I did noticed yours immediately because you are a consistent writer and I was wondering what kept you away from hive , checking your vp, it was almost at 90 percent, and I knew that something was taking your attention off hive
I hope you get well soon Joe
Stay blessed and positive!

I didn't even have the energy to do anything, and even if one was sick and could do regular things like using their phone and eating them it'll just be like a holiday, if not, then it'll just be like a person is in bondage and it's totally tiring

There's this girl that writes erotic stuffs, you know, sexual things on the chain, it's been a long time I've seen any of her posts and it's been really long.

You're right, anytime my VP enters 90% the chances are that I'm sick and that's mostly what it is.

Thanks a million, I appreciate.

I think this is the silver lining with having our life disrupted by some major issue like falling sick, our focus tends to change and we begin to re-evaluate a bunch of things we previously did mindlessly. I'm definitely guilty of tricking myself into thinking that I'm invincible but life always has an interesting and sometimes forceful way of bringing me back to reality.

Get better soon, with renewed hope that the future will be better than the past :)

I thought it was only me. Most of the time when I get sick or go through really traumatic periods, it makes me aware, I begin to see things from a different view, it's how I realize I've done a lot of things wrongly or rightly.

Definitely not! It's part of the journey, a phase that brings us realizations about how we've lived our life so far and to make necessary adjustments if possible.
