Money & The Potentiality Of Extreme Minimalism. (1)
People choose to spend or not spend money for different reasons and simply having a bundle of cash at hand or some figures from the statement of your account on your bank application still doesn't create the impulsion to spend.
When we choose not to spend, we're agreeing with our reasoning, halting some impulse, and applying discipline to our excesses.
So when if we decide not to spend, that inaction alone can help us hold and divert into something more purposeful and this is one of the most important things in life. The necessity to spend happens when there's a need to do so, and not mainly because there's money to spend.
We mostly consider necessity when resources are limited
If people choose to spend because they have money, then it'll be difficult for them to create a structure, establish a spending culture or understand the onus of owning money.
The biggest downside is that no one will think about their future and they'll mostly be hard done by emergencies.
So, money is not meant to be spent alone, although this is the endgame, we now living in a world where we can gain more for holding money.
People have unique money beliefs. The general belief that having money is just the end of finance-based problems is not true.
The Metrics For Judging These Things Can be Strange
This means that the principle of owning and spending money isn't black or white, there are grey areas, and it's no longer within spend or not.
There are options on the table that holds more meaning and impact and most times we have to consider them. We cannot completely define money and the immediate problem it solves, we have to look at the unique ideologies of people and what they choose to do or not do, no matter the amount of money we have.
What I'm trying to say is that money might signal the end of finance-based problems on paper, but in real life, it's not, it's more.
Having More, Might Not Necessarily Equate To Spending More
There are people who have a lot of money and still choose to wear cheap clothes or dress poorly and there are some who go to the extreme of having enough money to buy good medical healthcare but still die because they chose not to spend.
This is what I'll call extreme maximalism. while it feels queer and uncalled for, It's easier to judge people who indulge in it from a distance, but we might never know the angle to the story unless we hear from them or wear their shoes.
I believe foolish people do not have unique money ideologies, so people who choose to act differently even when they have money, usually have some mind-blowing reasons why they do so.
While it's not justifiable to have money in the bank and still die from lack of adequate medical care, the only way we truly understand these people is to be in their mind, which is literally impossible.
I told @depressedfuckup in one of his posts that, stinginess to oneself might seem so simple on the surface, but there are psychological reasons why people become stingy to themselves and others at the expense of what's viable or normal.
A stingy person might be a big spender at one point in their life
......the psychological change that made them otherwise might be because they had children, and vowed to give their children better lives at their own expense.
Another example is that people who had troubled childhood and later go on to become millionaires in life, might not have that lavish lifestyle that's often associated with wealthy people.
While it's easy to attach their extreme minimalism to being stingy alone, it's important to understand that there are more elaborate reasons why people choose not to spend even when they have enough to do whatever they please.

It is also satisfying to have enough money in your account you know you can afford anything you desire, but chose not to spend. The way it's difficult to earn money has made a lot of people wise on not spending anyhow until when it's very needed. That's not stinginess but a financial awakening.
Well, having money is a height of security against uncertainty, so it tends to boost one's confidence. In this part of the country, we're mostly good at keep money with the "rainy days" mindset so you're right. As for the stinginess, I was making a clarification as per the post I embedded.

There are minimalists and there are minimalists. Though we decide that we don't want to spend, trying to be frugal and live a measly life in order to keep our funds intact, situations would arise that would require us to spend whether we want that or not. I have seen someone so rich decide to make himself and his family look extremely shabby not because he's being wise in expenditures but because he just can't stand to spend a cent on anything. Quite sad really.
Well, thank you for this. That's why I said minimalism can have it's own extremes, the extremes can be really queer. I know people like that man you've mentioned and I think sometimes the fear of being poor or going back to ground zero is why many wealthy choose not to spend their money. It can vary.

No, trust me, not this man. No one is asking that you buy a private jet. We're just saying that your family should at least look like people, not servants. It's that bad.

It reminds me of those Youtube videos about how some rich people try to save on everything and it doesn't seem worth it. For example, they try to use all those coupons and hoard them like crazy to use them in the supermarket. Sure you save money, but with their income, it just seems excessive and I also don't think it's worth that time invested.

Exactly. Practicing excessive of these things can be harmful. This is why I think that when people reach a certain stage of minimalism it is important for them to establish balance, or else they might just lose track of what's viable and it wouldn't be worth it in the long run.

Stinginess really can be born from many situations. Some stingy people weren’t always that way, and their need to be stingy probably is fueled by a past experience where a need of cash was met with lack. So sometimes, you really can’t blame people, because you don’t really understand the situations that gave rise to their imperfections. Borderline still exists though that despite what ever aspirations or future goals we have, we can’t push our present aside in extreme minimalist efforts to maximize that future.
People have the strangest of reasons why did choose to spend money or not to spend money. Sometimes these reasons are very psychological and deep, so much that we can't even begin to fathom it, but just like you have said, we cannot push it the respective of what our reasons might be. The ultimate goal of having money is to still spend it, that function is inevitable. although, the world is now changing and people can even make more money by holding their money. Thanks for dropping by, that post of yours was an inspiration

Thanks for the nice words, man.
I think most people need to understand this bit and not judge people because they think that they’re spending their money in a way that doesn’t make sense to them. No has to explain why they spend their money or when to spend it. This is one of the beauties I love about Hive, the fact that what you do with your earnings are your business and yours only. (Even though it’s generally more encouraged that you invest into Hive rather than cashing out every dime that hits your wallet as liquid)
Money is not everything but we all want to have it.. I think with the way it has really been though recently to get money, it has set some of us to the right trace of spending wisely cus most do spend without considering the aftermath
I usually have problems to spend money as I do not want to take on extra responsibilities and also the lack of quality products available. For example, I bought a laptop one year ago and it has already broken. It is seemingly a trend that products are lower quality than in the past.
I think more establishments are now profit-driven rather than aiming to actually deliver value on the product they're trying to sell to people. You're right though, spending money comes with extra responsibilities.
I have seen the same... specifically in regard to laptops! I recently picked up a HUAWEI and it's actually way better than DELL and HP. I will never buy HP again... it's gone one way...
It is crazy that the focus has turned to delivering low quality products instead of looking for high quality. I guess it is effect of the fiat monetary system, the fish rots from the head down.
Yep, nobody really seems to care anymore about excellence and service delivery... sad...
I have a good friend who is very wealthy, multi millionaire with lots of good investments but the guy washes paper plates, reuses paper towels and doesn’t buy anything brand new like a truck. The nicest guy in the world and you’d never know he had money but it’s crazy what they do sometimes lol. His daughter is going to just sell everything and be a princess the rest of her life, it’s annoying lol
Some people definitely go to the extremes!

This is a very good example, such people can be perceived as being stingy to their own selves sometimes while they are still people who had troubled childhood that won't hesitate to spend their money recklessly.
That's exactly the case. I had uncles like this, and even when I needed their help they didn't help me. I blamed them, but I don't anymore. It takes a lot to understand these intricacies.
A whole lot i tell you.
To me I spend my money only on things I think it is important and save some for anything emergency and that dose not make me stingy
Well, it's unique and different for everyone, and that's how I do too, I spend sparingly and it doesn't make me stingy

When it comes to matters of releasing some tokens, I'm always Conscious of everything no matter how small.
It's hard to we earn legitly but easy to spend. But then, that's doesn't mean that I'm stingy as I try my best in social welfare I.e charity.
It always hurts when I spend on something that I have much believe on only for it get disappoint me.
Well, when people work really hard for the money they own or have, believe me, they always spend sparingly and it's not anyone's fault. Money is hard to come by these days.

Sometimes harsh events or situations cause a person to adjust their spending habits in unrealistic ways. However, it seems much of the spending is taking place on the "reckless" side of things. Nepotism is rife in today's age, and many have lost the appreciation of money, as well as the value it holds. To many, there is a "tap" that never runs dry, and so there is no connection between responsibility and spending.
I do believe that excessive spending without caution brings some unexpected consequences. There are reasons why some people choose excessive frugality or excessive spending, all in all they put themselves in the situation they bargained for.
Very much so, even "unconscious" decisions are still decisions... actions have consequences... and benefits.
