Value: Selling The Learning Curve & Personal Development.
Value is quite relative, and this is because we individually have what makes us tick. We cannot come to a 100% agreement that something, a person, a product, or an inanimate object represents value. The only thing that we can generally attach value to is money and this is because its value is proof that's visibly impactful, without making reference or being dependent on the views of people for validation. Asides from money, we humans are sentimental, deep down we're inadvertently selective.
Our views of what is worth can be tainted by things like our emotions, upbringing, economic environment, psychological beliefs, and educational background to some certain extent. In reality, we have a measure for what's supposed to be considered valuable and we often come to an agreement that it is but then, every individual has a personal yardstick to measuring what's valuable even if they might not admit it. In life, we cannot convince people to value us proportionally to the way we'd value ourselves and this is because they cannot see our efforts, our sacrifices, and our growth, even if we tend to show them.
People can quickly deduce the value of another person by looking at how they're dressed, how they talk, and the things they say, while we often deny this, it's an aspect of us we never want to admit. The origin of "dress the way you want to be addressed", is because we often place value on what we immediately perceive or envisage. For example, people are quick to judge others who have failed because their failure is more visible than their efforts and since we understand this, it's still hard to change.
The value would be defined differently till the end of time and this is because of the concept of free will. However, this is saddening no matter how much we try to euphemize it. Sometimes, a person is qualified on paper but in actuality, they're not, on the other hand, another might be less qualified on paper, but the reverse is the case in actuality. Sometimes people measure value with what they can relate to because it's the knowledge that's within their understanding, however, when we don't understand something, it's difficult for us to tell its worth.
It's possible for a person to mistake a diamond for a mere metal and this is because of the inadequacy of knowledge. Knowledge and ignorance are key features in the concept of value and Worth and this is why we often seek knowledge in other to understand what's truly valuable. In this video, I talked about why we can never place proportionality to value even if it seems glaring and visible.

Essentially, every decision we make, including what we value and how much we value something, is based on our level of knowledge of the subject at hand.
One may not place as much value on a Lamborghini as one should, given how expensive it is to obtain one, most likely because they are unaware that such a vehicle costs tons of money and thus do not value it.
It is also analogous to people not valuing the work of other people's hands if they have failed. They may not value the work because they are unaware of how much effort went into completing it. This proves how relative "value" is.
Like you have said, knowledge plays a big role in affecting one's perception of the value of anything. And, in reality, if one does not see the value that they should see, they may not efficiently maximize any advantage they may have.
I am not sure you intended to end the video the way it did. It was abrupt. It would have been nicer to have it end softly, rather than with a sudden cut.
Sunday greetings, man!
This is what I said exactly two or three paragraphs into the text that came with the video. Knowledge plays a huge role in our perception of value and this is one of the reason why we must work hard towards obtaining knowledge before we can try to measure value.
Personally I feel that there is no way we are going to see the hard work of others and value their experiences and efforts, this is because uneasy lies the head that wears the crown. A personal experiences can only make meaning to us because we are the ones who have been victims or victories of our stories..
We cannot force people to be logical or empathetic and inasmuch as this is unfair, it is how reality is.
As for the video, the reason why I ended it that way was because of some editing issues. This was why I added a lengthy post that accompanied the video to make up for the things I didn't say or how I ended it. Thanks a lot for your insightful comments.
Of course, I did read the text that came with the video. I write things in my own way sometimes, so as to ensure that I did grasp the concept of it.
I do hope you get your editing issues sorted out. I can understand how much of a hassle it may have been. If there's any way I could be of help, I'd be happy to.
Definitely, I'd get that sorted. Well it wasn't all challenging, that particular day, I think I wanted to cut out some redundancies, I didn't even know I cut out more than I should, it was perfect when I replayed it before uploading, I then edited to add the missing parts.
Isn't life beautiful? 😁
Top of the morning to you, man.
