Food: The Most Controversial Thing You Can Spend Money On
Feeding is one of man's largest living expenses because it is the single most important factor determining overall health and quality of life.
Poor feeding leads to poor health, whereas good feeding improves overall health. However, it may interest you to know that the amount spent on food does not determine how healthy we eat; for example, a person who buys bacon and soda at KFC for about $10 and a person who cooks a home meal with enough vegetables and fiber for about $7 are not the same.
One has spent wisely, whereas the other has not. When I was younger, we believed that the amount of meat in a meal made it healthier and more nutrient dense. This is because meat is expensive and not a common staple food here, so the more you can afford to buy meat, the deeper your wallet becomes, which inevitably translates to healthy eating.
However, this is incorrect; it is an African food mentality, but it is wrong in general
While it is expensive to feed or eat healthy, there are people who can afford to eat healthy but unintentionally consume unhealthy foods. So, while money is the first thing you need when planning to eat healthy, knowledge of what to eat is the second, which is where the next issue arises.
The internet is a hub of information and confusion.
Because Google, for example, does not vet information or conduct research before presenting it to you based on page rank and other factors, you are left to sift through information to determine what is correct and incorrect. For example, in my quest to eat healthier, some of the first research I conducted confirmed that red meat was bad in general for overall health, but it took me over 6 months of research to realize that this notion was not entirely applicable to some parts of Africa.
For example, meat is considered a luxury in Nigeria; it is difficult to consume meat as a staple food due to its high cost. However, some countries consume meat for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, and this study was more relevant to these people. So, even for the most serious cases of heart disease and diabetes, eating meat as small as an egg three to four times a day may not harm the body.
So, while red meat is beneficial in moderation, depending on the cut or part of the meat, it may not be harmful to those with heart conditions. However, this would only apply to a Nigerian.
Meat is a luxury in Nigeria due to its high cost; the average Nigerian may only eat three to four pieces of meat per week, which is why it will not harm them throughout their lives because it is in such small quantities. This is why I believe that research on healthy eating should vary by country and continent, as we can never truly generalize due to differences in what we eat.
Food bloggers and content creators are among the most divisive people on the planet. It is rare to find a food content creator who agrees with another about what food is good or bad; they are more concerned with content revenue than with educating people.
Some of them have catchy headlines like "carrot is known to cause cancer", and when you check, you will see millions of views because we have millions of people battling cancer or trying to avoid cancer clicking on these videos to find out why the content owner believes so.
At the end of the day, it is mostly the creators saying something different and gaslighting those who have seen the video.
Life is difficult, and many people suffer from diseases caused by the foods or beverages they consume, which is why the pharmaceutical industry is one of the largest in the world. There are people who are attempting to change their lifestyle in order to correct fatty liver disease and diabetes, and they will go to any length to obtain a miracle cure or miracle video, and internet dieticians are steadily capitalizing on this to earn millions through affiliate marketing and clicks.
It is a world where people are exploited because they are looking for answers to their problems.
At the end of the day, the money you spend on feeding does not guarantee that you are spending wisely. It is mostly the same for housing, clothing, and food. Value is when you get more for your money, and sometimes we need a lot of research and knowledge to spend on the necessities of life because simply throwing money at problems does not solve them.

Wow bruv you really nailed it on this topic.... You have said basically everything there is to say .. I too believed that the more meat the healthier.. nowadays I've cut down on cost of food not because I'm broke... But because a lot of what I used to eat was totally unhealthy.... I'm in my mid 20s and glad I made this decision earlier... Thanks for this blog man
Meat itself is good protein, if you reduce it to a sizeable ratio or portion. However eating healthy takes a lot of research, time and intentionality. I started with cutting out soda as I was having high blood sugar. Good decisions you made for yourself.
A very good decision for yourself as well broth... I hope your health gets really really good...🥰
I do believe the google search results are heavily censored and it is hard to find any quality information from them these days. I see also that the censorship of AI is heading in the same direction. But back to the food, I do find it amazing that despite all our so called knowledge and technological advancement, we still do know what is the perfect diet for us! McDonalds is full of chemicals, but millions of people are attracted to eat it each day!
I have picked this post on behalf of the @OurPick project! Check out our Reading Suggestions posts!

I also believe the same about Google search, it's hard to get quality information and even before you do, you have to do a lot of sifting. I haven't tried using AI either, but as you've said, it's probably heading towards one direction.
As for MacDonald's. It's funny that even people who are educated and know the health implications of these things are not even moved by the toxicity of it. MacDonald's and co still make the millions. I tend to think it's because people consider them convenient food, since it can be a hassle to cook.
Thanks for the Curation
The truth is that expensive food are not always healthy food like you said someone can buy soda and bacon for 10$ or more while another makes healthy vegetable soup with less than $7, unfortunately when we don't have money to eat those unhealthy food outside we think we are losing.
Exactly, food needs to be well-thought out and planned. It's true that healthy food can be expensive, but it's mainly not all huge spending that's healthy eating.
Most of huge spending foods are not healthy
This is so true, the food market online has been massively exploited with so much content with different opinions and specially products that confuse people of what is eating healthy, but a basic concept is, if it doesn't grow or life naturally then its not healthy ✌️
Those guys just want to make profit off their contents there's really nothing. Most online dieticians on the space just takes glory in countering themselves.
You're right, natural is healthy
If you are trying to control your food in take and depend heavily on google, consider yourself lost. I also realized this lately: most of the information online is contradictory. The best thing is to educate yourself on the common foods in your country and the nutrients they carry and how to ,balance them.
That's exactly what I emphasized on this post, a person has to educated themself on the best form of healthy living when it comes to food because it's not always generally applicable
We have so many people who come online to say this and that about what we are supposed to eat or not and at the end of the day, we find out that they just want to market their product😅
Well mostly it's just for commercial purposes as these people are just about the money.
Don't you hate those click bait things like carrots cause cancer? Meat is a great source of protein but is very expensive here as well. I personally have been eating a more plants than meats for health reasons, it also saves a lot of money! People who cook at home tend to get better prices and nutrition. KFC isn't the world's healthiest restaurant and is very expensive.
You are right, spending wisely on food is not only smart, it's important in today's world!

I have seen those clickbaits a lot on many YouTube videos and sometimes it's saddening that a person who is perfectly healthy takes advantage of the health condition of others to make money with their videos.
I do eat meat, but minimally. Not as much as before and not any type of meat again. Yeah, I know meat in the US is also expensive, I see these guys with their streaks of 300$ and all that, it's crazy
I use to eat all those food, at least to some extent, after all my diagnosis I decided that stop.

Here, if I tell the situation of our country, the poor people here are getting poorer because they don't have money to do a good business and increase their earnings, and the rich people here. Yes, he is getting richer and richer because money always makes more money. Here a poor man earns $100 a month and it is impossible to run a household within that.
Meat is fairly common here in the US and it's not too expensive. However, I do agree that eating out tends to be less healthy. Maybe it's just because time is short and going for the food is more convenient.
Eating out is less healthy, I mostly do my cooking 90% of the time. Meat is very expensive here and I can tell you that it's a luxury food, so people eat it soaringly, unless those that are wealthy or have a lot of money to spare.
I think when it comes to food, acquiring generalized information doesn't do much to the person in helping them solve their issues. Finding specific information that's applicable to us is hard in today's world unless we shut out the noise and try listening to what our body tells us. In many cases, we gather more relevant information from the latter approach that listening to these food content creators on the internet.
Generalized information about food is truly not the way. I think it's because people have different history and hence we cannot category say this is what is good for everyone. However there are informations that are generally applicable, but I believe most of the time people have unique histories
Sure. I think it's better to approach food holistically, just as with everything health related.
So many things that have actually been said about. Some said we should eat this certain kind of food and some said we should not eat this types of food. One does not even know what to do
