The Risk in the conquest of space.

The Risk in the conquest of space.

The Polaris Dawn Mission has suffered from several delays, let's hope that next Monday the 9th we can see the takeoff of this epic mission; but while we wait there are several interesting points to discuss about this mission; the mission launched by SpaceX, their objective is several scientific tasks, but they also aim to reach 1400 km from the earth, that is directly in the lower Van Allen belt and this mission will last 5 days.

I don't know if they have calculated the risks or the radiation level correctly, I don't know, let's hope that nothing happens, I suppose that one of the functions or missions that they are going to have is to take measurements or collect data on what is happening at that distance to 1400 km, which is the furthest distance in space that humans have gone since the last Apollo mission in '72.

No human has gone beyond 500 - 600 km away from the earth, the trips were to the space stations at about 400 km high, these are going to go to 1400 km, let's hope nothing happens, but we have to do this and at full solar maximum in its 11-year cycle where the sun emits more flares, more injections of coronal mass, which are clouds of plasma that when colliding with the magnetosphere are what cause storms, let's hope that nothing happens and If something happens that comes with superimposing them like the Fantastic Four and saving humanity, don't be villains.

A curious fact is that the total radiation they received during the entire trip, those of the Apollo 11 mission that lasted 8 days and 3 hours, was below the maximum level of radiation that a worker at a nuclear facility receives, the doubt is also It arises in the Polaris Dawn mission as in the mission to establish a lunar space station because the Artemis program led by NASA and other space agencies such as the European Union, Jaxa of Japan, Canada, etc., which plans to build a space station around the moon and of course there you are no longer protected by the Earth's magnetic field.

So that station is going to have to be shielded, those who are on that station will be at least on the order of weeks, maybe months, and the trip to Mars is going to be even worse, because at least it is going to last 3 months, although this It may depend on how the new engines are developed, if they are more powerful and can make the trip faster it will be less, but three months I think it will not be difficult to reduce it to three months.

Hmm I wish to travel to space someday, but seeing the risk😟. Am a bit scared. Thanks for the information dear.
