The Effect of Typhoon Nika in the Province of Quirino, Philippines 🇵🇭
Good the day hivers! How are you doing these days after all the typhoons that passed through in our country? Perhaps some of you are still recovering from your losses, some are striving to work for their financial needs, maybe some are still working or doing clean up in their houses caused by the typhoon. If that so, we’re on the same page.
In all the successive storms that passed through, Typhoon Nika or Known as Typhoon Toraji in its universal name has made the worst impact in our Province this year 2024. The wind was not strong as Typhoon Pepito but due to it's continues rain fall, it caused the rivers to rise and to be honest, our house flooded for the first time. A lot of Quirinians (People in Quirino) had experienced being flooded in their houses for the first time.
That's my cousin, Patrick. It is so sad to see how the floods took away our plants, all the vegetables planted by my father and my uncles were disappeared in an instant.
Well, that's life. We just need to accept the situation and move forward. I know that better things are coming.
Our grandparents house near to us. This photo was taken by my uncle during the typhoon, the flood.
This is our farm planted with eggplant and now it's all muddy.
And this lemon tree fell down due to wind and flood but still there's a fruit to harvest.
I and my brother were amazed by this plant because it seems like unbothered! It doesn't even bowed, there's no cut at all even it was passed by the flood! Well I think it's because of the protection that gourded the stem not to fall.
This chicken might finding her eggs in her coop.
This is my Uncle Paul’s house.
[Sighed] My heart is crying while seeing how the typhoon affects our houses. It's so stressful to see what's inside the house, all I can see is the muddy messy things caused by the flood.
Look how muddy and stressful to see the kitchen.
The kitchen utensils are all dirty and muddy, but still thankful that some utensils weren't swept away by the flood.
This is my mother, cleaning our room.
Some of the utensils we washed at the pumped well. It's so hard because even if we clean inside the house, and removed the muds we still need to walk at the muddy soil outside. We need to walk bare foot since you can't walk when you use slippers, it will just stuck in the soft soil.
Even those pictures of memories were reached by the flood.
Our group picture when I was a kid.
It was heartbreaking to see that the only wedding album of my parents were soaked with mud. That's the only album they had, and there's no digital copies of their wedding photograph that's why we hurried to wipe and clean those not so affected pictures to save.
I dried the pictures and saved the unaffected ones.
I'm also a memory keepers, I want to remember every moment in life and I'm glad that there's a photo to see remind us every beautiful memories we had. That's why I did my best to save what I can save and I'm glad that there's a lot of pictures I saved.
Saraisa were also fell down but there's a fruit to eat!
I washed it with clean water and I ate them! haha.
Look at this alugbati plants, they're growing amidst the flood that passed.
I went at the pump well again and I saw my younger brother with my younger cousin, they're holding a bucket with fishes inside.
Tilapia, eel, and janitor fish. That's what inside the bucket haha.
I told them to take a picture together but they refused, they think I'm gonna upload the image that’s why their scared hahaha!
But when I had the chance to capture them, I did like these two pictures below.
This is Derrick Clark, my cousin.
And this is Sealtiel, my brother.
After we cleaned the messy things and inside the house, we decided to go at river to just see things there.
I, and my cousins Patrick, Zedrick, Derick, and my brother Sealtiel went down to explore.
While walking, I saw the impact of typhoon in our neighbors plants.
It's heartbreaking to see the land full of green before but now it's all brown. It's okay, I look up and see the color of blue sky as my comfort.
My brother was so happy when he caught a fish on our way to the river and it touched my heart how I see him smiling genuinely
My cousins and my brother decided to swim after seeing that the water is not that deep, they even dive and had fun together while I'm at the river side scolding them to be careful and diving, but still a part of me wants them to enjoy their childhood.
This is our dog, Murphy. She’s a survivor during the flood, and I’m happy that she’s still alive! And to be honest, she was pregnant but she already gave birth during Pepito typhoon. The funny thing is, my mom named Murphy’s babies PEPITO. Pepito 1, Pepito 2, and Pepita 3.
After swimming, I told them to pose so I can take some photos of them. And here are the results:
I know that they are still young but someday, they will look back at this pictures and smile... wow look how happy when we were young.
I'm sure they will surely miss their childhood when they get older!
I just want to capture their moment. I'm a person who loves seeing how happy someone and I love to capture those. So I did it to them.
I'm just glad that they still enjoy life after the devastating situation we had faced. Those are some lessons that we can still find happiness and positive vibes even in a rough situations.
It's hard for us to start over, and to rise up again due to our losses, but I still believe that the sun rise from the east... and all will be alright in time because there are still good things to happen in the future.
I know a lot of you guys are having the same situation as what we have, some maybe worst... but all I can say is always be positive and have faith that better future is coming.
That's all for today's blog, thank you for lending your time to read this post. Stay safe always!
HIVE ON!

This is the hardest part after the typhoon, the clean up and we have no choice but to face the reality that we lose a lot because of the typhoon. Still, glad to know that y'all safe and no one got hurt. And at least kompleto ang lahat na mag momove forward. Mahirap pero laban lang palagi 💪✨
Opo, still grateful na no one got hurt physically po sa family namin. Thank you for the motivational comment po, laban lang po! 😊
