My Kind of Sporty Outfits 🏃♀️
Happy Friday, Hive friends around the globe!
This is another blog post about outfits and what I think about them. As you may have noticed, I’ve been posting about my OOTDs and stories behind the outfits for the past few days in these recent weeks. I do not know if you have realized by now that one of the many things I am passionate about is clothes. (Nope, disclaimer: I am not a rich kid wanting to be in a glossy magazine cover, okay.)
A little backstory – I think my love for, as many would use the term, “fashion” began when I was in college. Being the younger sister with four older sisters, I usually get their “old/used” clothes. By old I mean clothes they have outgrown, clothes they do not want to wear anymore because it’s been used a couple of times already, or clothes that they’ve used once and they have no intention of wearing again ever. I admit that I used to complain about this before (how come I don’t get new clothes? kind of blabbering), being the narcissistic teenager that I was back then. But as I grew up, I realized it was a blessing because I had decent clothes way back, thanks to my sisters.
Now there’s that. My sisters have been influential in how I dress up. You see, many of my University peers would often say I am “too girly” in the clothes I wear. And as someone who’s not confident back then, that remark shattered me for a bit and I recall opting for “sporty” outfits on our Wednesday Wash Days (No Uniform) in school. Until such time that my group of friends had encouraged me to embrace the way I choose to dress up because I do not dress up for people to see, I dress up as a means of self-expression. That has helped me become more confident, actually.
These three outfits I am posting now were taken sometime in 2k18, back when I had a great deal of time taking snaps of my outfits lol. These are my ”sporty” casual outfits. The first one is a skirt and a cropped top, with sneakers and a bull cap – nothing says sporty than a cap. The second one is a skort (skirt and shorts – thank you so much to the one who thought of this brilliance!) and a cropped top – it’s like copying an Intramurals muse hahaha. The last one is a high-waisted skinny jeans paired with a long-sleeved crop top, and finished off with my all-practical boots (with the added flair of the jacket I wore because it was rainy!) – seems like a rockstar-ish.
I guess I have shared this in a post months ago, but it is worth repeating for this post’s sake – I am into dressing up because my I love how it somehow empowers me somehow. Like when I choose a particular outfit I feel like I could conquer the world, something like that. I don’t know if that makes sense lol. I guess you can say it’s kind of therapeutic the way I see it. That’s just how my personality is, I guess.
