The Dinosaur Extinction Had Another Asteroid Secret

Who else wants to know what caused the Dinosaurs to get extinct. I wonder what could be so deadly that an entire race can be destroyed with nothing left but pieces of their bones and we should be thankful we have those otherwise we wouldn't even know they ever existed.

They said it was an asteroid that hit the earth. But now some scientists claim it was actually two asteroids that hit the Earth around the time these dinosaurs went extinct.

The most popular one we know of is the asteroid that hit an area near Mexico and they still believe that's what caused the main extinction event. They said a second asteroid also hit off the coast of Africa at what a place that is now called the Nadir crater.

Apparently the impact of that asteroid was so powerful that it caused tsunamis, shook the ocean floor and even liquefied rocks. This is some horror scene when I try to imagine it. Thank God we didn't exist then, because if we did, there's no way our technology today can save us except if we could deflect it before it happened.

Scientists used 3D data to measure the Nadir asteroid’s size, its speed and the angle too. According to their measurements, it was about 450-500 meters wide and it moved at 20 kilometers per second. No wonder the impact was so intense that it was able to launch a series of huge waves across the Atlantic.

I hope this never happens in our time. The good news is that such events are rare but not impossible to happen because a meteor in Russia exploded in 2013, showing that these impacts still happen. At least what we know now is that the chances of a similar asteroid hitting Earth soon are still low. If something like that will happen, it's might happen in say 2300 and even that's with slim odds.

That was one of the most important events on Earth's history. But there are chances of something similar happening in the future!
