I am often impressed with how much we have come to know and understand about the universe we exist in.

It's a vast universe. It's practically infinite from our understanding of space expanding and as you may already know it's not just expanding at a constant speed, the acceleration with which it's expanding is in increasing.

The fastest thing in the known universe is light but the universe is actually expanding faster than light itself.

So what is causing the universe to expand? The answer to the question is what lead scientists to discovering a major part of the universe that is very difficult and quite tricky to detect.

We already understand that gravity exists and the force of gravity can be measured based only on its impact or effect on objects in space.

From 3rd Grade we learned that gravity is the reason we have weight on this planet and infact it's the primary tool for which a planet can be formed.

The reason all planets and almost all objects in space are round and perfect balls is because gravity acts in all directions of the object pulling everything towards the center of that object. By so doing the shape you end up with is round.

But we discovered that 85 percent of the gravity of space itself has no known origin and so they call it dark matter. It cannot be seen or even detected with powerful telescopes but the effect it has on objects can be detected.

Also scientists detected a very mysterious pressure in space that's causing the acceleration of the universe opposite to gravity and that's why is called Dark energy.

Dark energy is what's causing space itself to accelerate in its expansion. When you combine dark matter and dark energy you get about 96 percent of the entire universe as we know it.

Yes, so the stars, the planets and asteroids and gases and even black holes all combined makes up for 4 percent of the universe as we know it.

That discovery is really insane making us realize that we know exactly how much we do not know about this universe. If scientists end up discovering or understanding Dark energy and dark matter, I believe we'll then understand the through origins of space or the universe which of course we'll call it the handwriting of God if you will.

I can't wait to have us uncover this secret. It'll set the record straight on the history of creation and whether is was created by a God, Some nerd alien in his mom's basement or just by mere chance.
