What does germination look like for rice seedlings and does the seed need to germinate?
Germination is an important process in farming because it is the period when life begins to sprout out of seeds that were lifeless before planting, every plant goes through this stage and a healthy amount of these plants need to be catered for to ensure the seedlings are not exposed to danger since the seedlings are mostly fragile at this stage.
It's been more than a week now since I started planting rice seeds directly on some of my farms without actually nursing it first and I said it was for the best if the seeds are planted in the land while there are short grasses that will cover the farm and act as cover protection for the seeds and even the seedlings when it begins to grow, well that idea is probably the reason why I find my farm in a good condition right now.
The seeds need water, heat and oxygen to germinate and the absence of one could affect the growth or even stop the growth completely now there has been a slight absence of one which is water because the rain stopped for a while even before I had started planting which means that the seeds normally ought not to grow but that's not the case because the ground was a little bit cold when I started planting because the grass on the farm prevented the sun from directly over heating the ground but that does not mean that the water is enough but for now the seedlings can still make do of the cold ground.
What would have happened if there was no water and the ground was dry?
Nothing, because rice is a special seed grain that can last as long as five years once it is not exposed to water or microbes now the seeds in the ground will remain dry until the rain takes up again then it will start germinating the only problem here will be a pest as usual but apart from that I think the seeds will remain good and that is demonstrated by the yearly presence of growing rice seedlings on the farmland that was used to cultivate rice a year ago the seeds have been safely buried in the ground all this while.
Thank you for visiting my blog.
I really hope that the rains can resume soon so that all of these planted seeds will have adequate water to survive. You have done well so far.
