Hope For Africa Through Crypto

avatar

The past three days have had Africa Bitcoin Conference dominate my Twitter feed, not knowing much about the event except that it took place in Ghana from the pictures and tweets I see, I was pleased with the initiative with the likes of Jack Dorsey in attendance.

What I gathered from the conference based on the tweet was Africa opening itself to the world through cryptocurrency, I know the Bitcoin maxi would prefer I use Bitcoin but I believe Bitcoin as well as other cryptocurrencies with genuine project backing all have the potential to impact lives positively.

The African government remains unwelcoming toward cryptocurrency, consistently working on ways to stifle the growth of cryptocurrency through regulations but cryptocurrency continues to gain popularity regardless.

The kids are watching, they are getting curious and keen, brighter than we can imagine and one kid caught my attention I just couldn't help watching her interview with Jack Dorsey over and over again is a ten-year-old Sama Time, she is so adorably smart.

Above is a video of Sama interviewing Jack, one of the best interviews I've watched recently.

Afro Bitcoin the organizer of the conference are Africans from various parts of the continent that believes Bitcoin is the revolution and are intent on spreading the word to gain adoption. And from what I have seen on Twitter and YouTube, it was a success from all over Africa with Cameroonians asking to be the next host. This reminds me of Hive Fest and I hope Hive Fest comes to Africa shortly.

Another notable figure from the team behind Afro Bitcoin is Farida Bemba Nabourema, a Togolese, she is a Human Rights Defender and an inspiration to the continent, a positive impact from her is to encourage more women to get active with crypto.

This isn’t about money, it’s about humanity. No one is free until we are all free.

One of the quotes I pulled off from one of the speakers, Lamar Wilson was the above. It is inspiring that we are beginning to realize Bitcoin or cryptocurrency, in general, is not only about money, in as much as money is attached to it, but there's also a lot more to cryptocurrency. It is a great tool to fight for freedom, especially in Africa where leaders abuse power and take things into their hands.
Cryptocurrency and blockchain technology is about empowerment, young Sama is 10 at present, and she is going to be an impact on society and the world at large and it begins with leaving a positive impact on her peers even at her age she's doing great than most of us adults.

For Africa, there is hope through cryptocurrency.

It's going to be revolutionary for more African countries to hold events as such and it's great to see Ghana having such events. I watched the interview with Dorsey, these kids are the future that could easily digest and understand the concept of web3 and crypto

This is a conference with a lot of awareness and positives to take from it, it is beautiful to witness Africans converging in Ghana over cryptocurrency, this is where innovations are going to rise from. Sima is such a brilliant kid.

This is interesting and indeed adds hope to Africa, especially with the way money can easily get looted by the government and none is taking accountability. Also the freedom of having more options and being inclusive on global equality than having to hold on to a currency that is always depreciating.

At least with crypto or Bitcoin one will have to determine their own risk tolerance brought by volatility which would affect everyone globally.

Farida Bemba Nabourema is fighting against her government through Bitcoin, this is the kind of tool cryptocurrency has given us, to fight without violence against the oppression and looting we have been subjected to over the years. I am impressed by what I see, we have to stay crypto-enlightened to better utilize it to our advantage.

It really is surprising that governments from developing countries aren't taking the initiative. I mean, worse case scenario the economy remains the same or slightly worse. On the flip side, leveraging on crypto innovation could completely transform economies and perhaps create a new set of wealthy nations

They are sticking to their old ways because it benefits them, it enables them to embezzle without leaving a trace, crypto, on the other hand, is a threat and goes against their intention. Regardless I am glad despite their unwelcoming approach to crypto they can't stop people from using it.

I think BTC and crypto can work extremely well in third world countries and it can definitely provide a good opportunity based on it. I just think the technology is great as it doesn't matter where you are in the world and it's instant.

Due to the exchange rate against the UDS, and local fiat currencies cryptocurrency works better in purchasing power compared to the US and EU aside the monetary gain, it is a tool for us all to get tings done our way with being controlled.
