Travel To Saint Martin, Coral Island in Bangladesh | A piece of Paradise in the heart of the Bay of Bengal
Saint Martin is the only Coral island in the southernmost part of Bangladesh. It is known as one of the best tourist hubs of Bangladesh. Saint Martin Island can also be called the paradise of the south. I traveled to Saint Martin in 2019. The experience of traveling to the most beautiful places in Bangladesh will be memorable for me.
The ancient name of Saint Martin was Jazira, named by Arab traders. And to the local people, the island is better known as Coconut Jinjira or Narikel Jinjira. Hence another name for Saint Martin is coconut ginger. The island is said to have been named Saint Martin during the British rule. Traveling to this island was an absolute pleasure.
I went on a trip to Saint Martin with my friends and older brothers. First, we went to Cox's Bazar. We went to Teknaf by bus from Cox's Bazar. From the Naf River in Teknaf, we took a launch to St. Martin.
From November-December to February-March when the weather is good, Saint Martin can be visited by launch. Usually, this time is winter in Bangladesh, so the sea is a bit calmer, and then it's easy to get to St. Martin. But at other times of the year when the sea is wild, the launch is closed, and traveling here depends on your own risk. We went to Saint Martin in February. The sea was not so wild then.
After we got to Saint Martin we went there and get to a nice hotel. Since it is a seaside area, the hotel fares here are a bit expensive. But the quality of the hotel was good. The sea was very close to the hotel. We walk along the beach all afternoon and stay at the beach until sunset. We enjoy the beautiful sunset. In the evening we went to Saint Martin market. We buy dried fish. We had fish fries for dinner. Fishes of St. Martin's had a wonderful taste.
The next morning we visited another island near St. Martin. It was a very beautiful island. The water there was clear and there was almost no human territory. It is known as Chhera Island. At noon we leave St. Martin for Cox's Bazar.
St. Martin is an island rich in flora and fauna. The biodiversity here includes various species of corals, snails, mussels, algae, marine fish, amphibians, reptiles, birds, and mammals. Many species of corals are found on this island so it is also known as coral island.
Among the main vegetation of St. Martin Island are coconut, betel nut, bamboo, etc. On the southern side of the island, there is an abundance of keora bushes. I saw a lot of coconut trees on this island. Keora trees look very beautiful. Their roots are different than normal plants.
Saint Martin is sparsely populated. The main occupation of the people here is fishing. As it is a popular tourist center, the tourism and hotel business is also quite good here. The trip to Saint Martin was one of the best trips of my life.

I really like those fishing boats, there are a lot of them, I think there is a kind of fishing harbour (if I'm not mistaken).
Yeah! You are absolutely right. There are so many fishing boats in the beach.
And we here in Romania have some boats similar to those photographed by you in the area called Danube Delta (a place far enough from where I live to visit it).
I think, they are wonderful also. Thank you for visiting.
You're welcome!
