Hi guys, just in case you missed this week's celeb news, it turns out Prince Harry has returned
The return of Prince Harry is warming the heart. He will be celebrating a unique day in the UK. Back in 2014, he founded the Invictus Games Foundation which turns ten this year.
This is an international sporting event for wounded armed services personnel.
On May 8th the event will be held at St Paul’s Cathedral where a ‘Service of Thanksgiving’ will take place in recognition of the decade of lives changed by the Games.
Prince Harry himself will give a reading during the service and actor Damien Lewis will also attend to recite a poem.
What makes this visit even more special is that it’s his first time back since going to see his father, King Charles III in February following news of his cancer diagnosis which was big for their family.
We haven’t seen Prince Harry with his family much lately. Since he and his wife Meghan Markle stepped back from their duties as senior members of the British royal family in 2020 and moved to California with their children — Archie, 2, and Lilibet, born this June — opportunities for such gatherings have been scarce.
For Prince Harry, family comes first. He said in an interview that it was good to see his dad amid what he called a “really challenging” time. “I love my father to bits,” he added. “He’s my father.
I’m never going to say anything but awesome things about him.”
The prince spoke of the potentially “reunifying effect” that Charles’s illness might have on the family — noting that hardship often brings people together, something he’s observed through his work with the Invictus Games.
“Through all these families that are . . .” he began, then paused.
“As the Invictus Founding Patron, I see it every single day: People are coming together and celebrating each other in incredibly challenging situations.”
Any illness or sickness can bring families closer, Harry continued: “It’s bringing people together and having these abnormal conversations rather than just like, ‘Hey, how are you?’ ‘Fine.’
It’s like we’re now properly discussing [how] our hearts have been affected by life-changing moments over a sustained period of time.”
“I think any mother or father would be,” Prince Harry told Winfrey when asked if he was angry about what had happened within the royal family.
“I am acutely aware of where my family stand[s] and how scared they are of the tabloids turning on them,” Markle said at one point during her conversation with Winfrey.
He mentioned how hardships often bring people closer together.
After treating an inflamed prostate, King Charles III was diagnosed with cancer. Consequently, he retired from public duties to concentrate on his treatment but there is good news.
Last week Buckingham Palace announced that King Charles III would resume some public-facing duties in the near future. On April 30th, accompanied by Queen Camilla, his first engagement will be a visit to a centre for cancer treatment.
It is comforting to know that the health of King Charles III has improved and that he is ready for more active duty involving the public eye.
The king’s spokesperson said “he is greatly encouraged by this development which will allow him to resume some public facing duties” and also expressed gratitude towards those who have been taking care of him professionally.
The royal family has experienced many difficulties in the past months.
This is not just a happy reunion but also an indication of their solidarity and robustness that Harry coming back to the UK for this special event stands for. It reminds people that they should unite when things are tough.
Over the years, the Invictus Games Foundation has offered hope to countless wounded servicemen and women while demonstrating their resilience in return.
As it celebrates its 10th year, this is not only an occasion to rejoice over its achievements but also perceive it as a testament of how strong our Royals can be as Prince Harry comes back to commemorate this milestone.
