Overcoming Doubt to Chase Dreams

I am of the opinion that doubt can prevent us from achieving what we want to achieve. Suzy Kassem once wrote, “Doubt kills more dreams than failure ever will.” I always remember this quote because it’s so accurate.

Sometimes when we doubt ourselves, it feels as if we’re saying we’re not good enough or cannot do anything. It is like there being a small voice in our heads telling us that “You can’t do it,” and sometimes the voice can be very loud.

Nevertheless, doubting ourselves does not help us at all. It does not make us better nor stronger but simply holds us back. It prevents us from even attempting to pursue our dreams for fear of failing.

I used to always have doubt about myself. I would say, “I am not intelligent enough” or “I don’t have what it takes.” Then, however, I realized that if I continued doubting myself, then it wouldn’t help me in any way; it only made me feel worse and prevented me from pursuing my true desires.

Therefore, I decided never to do this again. From that point forward whenever something crossed my mind it came out of my mouth – no matter how crazy! – because they were all positive phrases like ‘you can’ or ‘you will succeed at everything you put your mind too.’ And let me tell you what happened next… Everything changed for the better! Instead of being held back by doubt I started moving closer towards achieving my dreams!

Of course there were times where things didn’t go as planned and guess what? That’s perfectly fine with me. Failure is just another step along our journey; it does not mean we are not good enough nor should give up but rather must continue trying until getting nearer while gaining knowledge from past mistakes made along the way.

I overcame doubt by being with optimistic individuals. If you are always with negative people, it is simple to lose confidence in yourself. However, if people around you have faith in you and back you up, then it becomes easy for you to trust yourself.

The next thing that helped me is setting small goals that can be achieved easily. Instead of trying to achieve all my big dreams at once, I divided them into smaller parts. This made them seem more possible and gave me confidence as I went along.

And do you know something else? Also, celebrating my successes even the smallest one has helped. We tend to focus on what we have not achieved but taking a moment to celebrate our victories can greatly increase our faith in ourselves and keep us going.

Therefore, if you are currently doubting yourself then I want you to understand that this feeling is normal. There are times when all of us experience self-doubt. However, do not allow it hold you back. Trust in yourself and your capabilities as well as keep in mind that there is nothing beyond your reach once set out for it.
