My Lifelong Obsession
Ying Ying❤️ Just saying her name makes me grin.
She is my bestie for the restie, the one I tell all my secrets to and lean on when I’m down but not like that.
We’ve been friends forever and a day. We met on the playground and have been by each other’s side ever since. Growing up in Singapore, we were like two peas in a pod. We attended the same school, joined the same clubs and eventually pursued the same profession.
Our friendship is unique. It’s an unbreakable connection that no matter how many hardships we face; we always stick together. We have spent our time laughing, crying and travelling too because this is what we enjoy most.
Ying Ying is my travel partner in crime. We’ve been all over the place, from the busy streets of Tokyo to the calm beaches in Bali.
There’s just something about going on adventures with your best friend that makes it better than anything else ever could be. We have had so much fun together and I wouldn’t give up any of those memories for anything else in this world.
However, the big adventures aren’t the only thing that sets our friendship apart from others.
I’m talking about the little things, too. Conversations deep into the night over cups of hot teh tarik and spontaneous movie marathons on lazy Sundays. It’s this knowledge that Ying Ying has always got my back, through thick and thin, and I have hers.
A lot of people might think it’s unhealthy to be obsessed with your best friend, but I think that couldn’t be further from the truth. If anything, it just shows how strong our bond is. No matter what happens in life, I know she’ll be right there next to me.
Admittedly, there are some things that don’t match between us.
Ying Ying is more extroverted, while I am more introverted.
She completes me as a person and I would not have it otherwise. What we have is based on love, trust, mutual respect among other things.
In this world where people walk in and out of each other’s lives, Ying Ying has been my anchor.
She has seen me at my lowest points, she has celebrated with me during my highest moments and she will always be there for me.
We might be too much into each other but honestly speaking; I do not want anything else different from what we have.
So cheers to you Yings my bestie. Thank you for being the greatest friend any girl could ever wish for. Here’s to forever filled with fun memories created together and lots of love shared too. Best friends till death.
