I4I #18 - Bring it On

At this point of our lives, Tiffany and I can say we are veteran's of taking on being healthier and fitter. We are also human and take a few steps especially on the latter part of a year. Injuries and illnesses aside, we love to eat lol, but we don't do fast food except for the occassional pizza (which I would never give up) and perhaps a burger here and there. The holidays from November through December are especially hard to resist eating beyond what we would normally do.

We pack on the pounds and although we don't stop working out unless a doctor or a major injury stops us, there comes that moment earl in every year that we have to reset our eating patterns and every other year we decide to join the transformation challenge that the fitness community we belong to does every year.

For the most part, Tiffa and I do things without the umbrella of accountability set by another entity, but in some cases we are flexible for the sake of having something to resonate with the other members. This particular challenge is nationwide, so it's really a huge community event.

Each home fitness studio sets up teams to add a challenge to the challenge, so that it motivates folks to keep up with it. It begins January 16th and I believe ends March 14th. An 8 week challenge is reasonable and for Tiffany and me it's usually a piece of cake without actually eating cake lol.

It won't change our workout patterns much. I mean we do the high intensity interval training sessions 5 to 6 days a week and we try to participate in an outdoor running event every month or at least during running season which is an advantage here is Florida.

During transformation challenges, Tiffa and I like to do 5 HIIT sessions a week and do a walking activity once during the weekend and we always use Wednesdays as our rest day - challenges or not.

We have a running event in two weeks. Just a 5K and we have 5K's scheduled through March and one we are waiting for the registration to open in April. Tiffa and I intend to go past the 2 month challenge and actually make it 3 months, so to make a full reset much more reasonably possible.

So I found this quote by Hall of Fame Keynote Speaker ROGER CRAWFORD and probably one of the best quotes I've ever read:

“Being challenged in life is inevitable, being defeated is optional.”

So few words have ever been more impactful.

Great quote, Jimmy!
And even if a person gets weak doesn't mean you are done in.
The courageous person and the winning person even keeps on going when feeling weak and tired and feeling exhausted.
Keep going! Be persistent in what ever you are doing.

That is so empowering. Love that quote, @jimmy.adames! We can rise above and conquer or be victims and defeated.
