Celebrating international knitting day in public

Siempre los tengo presente artistas de esta maravillosa comunidad #NeedleWorkMonday, he estado algo ausente, más pronto seguiré compartiendo con uds. todo lo que mi creatividad va manifestando.

Hablando de que les tengo presente, hace dos semanas, el domingo 12/06 asistí a un gran evento en el marco de la celebración del Día internacional de tejer en público, he asistido en cuatro oportunidades a este evento, luego de dos años sin realizarse motivado a la pandemia, nuevamente nos logramos reencontrar tejedores de diferentes técnicas. Estando en ese evento, imaginaba lo maravilloso que sería hacer un evento presencial con los miembros de esta comunidad #NeedleWorkMonday.

Esta celebración comenzó a realizarse desde el año 2005, y a partir de ese año el segundo sábado del mes de junio se reúnen tejedoras en diferentes partes del mundo para celebrar la magia de tejer, en mi caso, este año se realizó un domingo, ya que el espacio en donde se realizó estaba ocupado el día sábado.

Speaking of what I have in mind, two weeks ago, on Sunday 12/06 I attended a great event as part of the celebration of the International Day of knitting in public, I have attended four times to this event, after two years without taking place due to the pandemic, again we managed to meet knitters of different techniques. Being in that event, I imagined how wonderful it would be to make a face-to-face event with the members of this community #NeedleWorkMonday.

This celebration began to be held since 2005, and from that year on the second Saturday of the month of June knitters in different parts of the world gather to celebrate the magic of knitting, in my case, this year it was held on a Sunday, since the space where it was held was occupied on Saturday.

Estaba muy feliz en el evento, al enterarme que ocurría ese evento, le escribí a mi compañera de tejido, nos conocimos en un encuentro de celebración del día internacional de tejer en público, y a partir de allí nos organizamos para asistir a los encuentros subsiguientes. Ambas estábamos muy contentas de poder reencontrarnos y asistir al evento.

I was very happy at the event, when I found out that this event was happening, I wrote to my knitting partner, we met at a meeting to celebrate the international day of knitting in public, and from there we organized to attend subsequent meetings. We were both very happy to be able to meet again and attend the event.

Los organizadores del evento son los dueños de una prestigiosa tienda de venta de hilos; así que aproveché de compra hilos 😍.

Los organizadores, dieron una cálida y emotiva bienvenida, luego tres emprendedoras, no mostraron sus proyectos e iniciativa.

Una de las emprendedoras, nos habló sobre lo fascinante que le ha resultado combinar el bordado con el tejido. Yo puedo certificar esta experiencia, he bordado sobre tejido, y el resultado es hermoso e impresionante.

Otra emprendedora, estando en España se dedicó a aprender macramé, logrando resultados impresionante, y este emprendimiento se ha vuelto su sustento económico.

Finalmente, otra emprendedora, nos habló que hace carteras, y lo complicado que le resulta conseguir el material, pero siempre lograr obtenerlo. Ella teje los bolsos usando moriche, este material es obtenido de una planta, el cual lo manipulan hasta volverlo hilo.

The organizers of the event are the owners of a prestigious yarn store, so I took the opportunity to buy yarn 😍.

The organizers, gave a warm and emotional welcome, then three entrepreneurs, showed us their projects and initiative.

One of the entrepreneurs told us how fascinating it has been to combine embroidery with knitting. I can certify this experience, I have embroidered on fabric, and the result is beautiful and impressive.

Another entrepreneur, while in Spain, dedicated herself to learning macramé, achieving impressive results, and this enterprise has become her economic livelihood.

Finally, another entrepreneur, told us that she makes handbags, and how complicated it is to get the material, but she always manages to get it. She weaves the bags using moriche, this material is obtained from a plant, which is manipulated until it becomes thread.

Me encantó este trabajo tejido en macramé, la emprendedora estando en España quiso tener el Cerro El Ávila en su casa, así que lo recreó en macramé. Comentó que luego tuvo que hacer varios porque a sus amigos les gustó.

I loved this work woven in macramé, the entrepreneur being in Spain wanted to have the Cerro El Avila in her home, so she recreated it in macramé. She said that later she had to make several because her friends liked it.

Lo maravilloso del evento es que tejeríamos grannies para hacer mantas para una fundación que alberga niños abandonados. A cada tejedora le fue entregado una madeja de lana para tejer grannies de 15 cm x 15 cm. El diseño de cada granny sería libre.

The wonderful thing about the event is that we would be knitting grannies to make blankets for a foundation that houses abandoned children. Each knitter was given a skein of wool to knit 15 cm x 15 cm grannies. The design of each granny would be free.

En el ambiente había fiesta y mucho contento al saber que este evento aparte de un reencuentro tenía un gran motivo, tejer para dar calorcito a unos niños😍.

The atmosphere was festive and very happy to know that this event, apart from being a reunion, had a great reason: to knit to give warmth to some children😍.

Realmente tejer en público es una experiencia fascinante, en donde hay un idioma, donde solo hay creatividad y disfrute.

Luego los organizadores recogieron los grannies. Adicional, nos comprometimos a hacer más grannies para reunirnos nuevamente a unirlos para formar las mantas, ya quiero que llegue este día ❣️.

Otro de los motivos que me hacía querer ir al encuentro de tejedores, era el sitio, siempre había querido ir. Luego que terminó el evento junto a mi compañera tejedora nos dispusimos a caminar y conocer el lugar. Este sitio está ubicado en Caracas, capital de Venezuela, es llamado Hacienda La Trinidad.

Another of the reasons that made me want to go to the knitters' meeting was the place, I had always wanted to go. After the event was over, together with my weaving partner, we set out to walk around and get to know the place. This place is located in Caracas, capital of Venezuela, it is called Hacienda La Trinidad.

La vegetación es preciosa, hay flores de diversos colores, flores que invitan a la ternura y al brillo.

Me encantó pasear por los jardines, me sentía en mi cita con la artista que soy, este tipo de lugares, me conectan con la luz, con la calma y con lo bonito de la vida.

I loved walking through the gardens, I felt on my date with the artist that I am, this kind of places, connect me with the light, with the calm and with the beauty of life.
