Splinterlands Social Media Challenge: Thane Newsong's Inspire is powerful when combined with double strike

Splinterlands is a pretty complicated game and there are some interesting battles with all the options available. This is a part of the weekly social media challenge for Splinterlands. For this week, I chose a great battle where I took advantage of Thane Newsong's inspire to buff my melee monsters and deal damage.

Featured cards

Thane Newsong is a earth splinter that costs 5 mana. This card starts off with the inspire ability. This card learns strengthen at level 3, swiftness at level 5 and headwinds at level 6. This is a great support monster and I use it quite often with some strong melee monsters. I only have this card at level 3 though.

Rule set, Battle and Plan

The ruleset this time is Standard. This means that there are no restrictions in this match. There are 41 mana available and I am left with the choice of every splinter except for death.

My summoner is Helios Matriarch because it increases my speed by 1 and gives me access to a gladiator card. My tank is Djinn Chwala for the thorns ability. My 2nd monster is a reach monster with double strike. My third monster is Thane to buff up my monsters. My 4th and 6th monster has martyr to buff up Katrelba Gobson. Katrelba Gobson is my 2nd double strike monster but it focuses on the last monster with its bloodlust and sneak ability. My entire lineup is focused on increasing my melee damage and to kill off my opponent before they can kill mine

Round 1

round 1.png
At first glance, I think that I have the advantage. My opponent has focused on magic damage but I think I have more damage due to the inspire and double strike abilities. If I do miss a few attacks, I might still lose but I don't think it is very likely due to the speed difference.

Round 2

round 2.png
At first glance, I think that I have the advantage. My opponent has focused on magic damage but I think I have more damage due to the inspire and double strike abilities. If I do miss a few attacks, I might still lose but I don't think it is very likely due to the speed difference.

Round 3

round 3.png
I took out two more monsters and also increased the bloodlust on my Katrelba Gobson. So I think this match is over given the speed advantage and the damage that I have on my side.

I ended up winning the match later that round because I didn't miss any attacks and the speed advantage.

Conclusion

The battle this time around went as I expected. My choice of using double strike monsters worked out well with Thane and the inspire. This increased my melee attack damage and it helped me kill off my opponent quite fast. Adding in the bloodlust from Katrelba Gobson, I just completely overpowered my opponent.

You can see my entire match here.

The Katrelba is such a beast and underrated. The powerful magic cards of the opponent threatened, and if not for the Katrelba though, I think you might have lost this one.
Quite stunning what a level two summoner can do.
