Splinterlands: Outlasting my opponent with Grimbardun Smith
Splinterlands is a complex game and it allows for various different cards and strategies. Each fight is different as there are various different rulesets applied and this can give specific cards an advantage depending on how you use them. In this post, I talk about a great battle that I had and it's about the card Grimbardun Smith. I used its abilities to win the match.
Featured Cards
Grimbardun Smith is a neutral promo monster that costs 6 mana. It starts off with the immunity skill. As it levels up, it learns void at level 3, shield at level 5, and repair at level 8. I have a gold foil card of this at level 2.
Rule set, Battle and Plan
The ruleset this time is Target Practice and Noxious Fumes. This means that ranged and magic monsters gain the snipe ability and all monsters start off poisoned. There is also 32 mana and I can choose water or dragon splinter.
Splinter | Mana Cost | Position | Reason |
---|---|---|---|
Quix the Devious | 4 | Summoner | -1 range and speed |
Chaos Rear Guard | 4 | 1st | Shield |
Baakjira | 6 | 2nd | Void, Slow and Strengthen |
Daarg Deadblast | 7 | 3rd | Weapons Training and Swiftness |
Grimbardun Smith | 6 | 4th | Immunity |
River Nymph | 4 | 5th | Cleanse |
Chaos Agent | 1 | 6th | Dodge |
Quix the Devious is my summoner for its -1 range and speed. My tank is Chaos Rear Guard for its shield ability and it should survive quite long due to target practice. Baakjira is my backup tank and my first line of defence against the magic/ranged monsters with its void ability. I have Daarg after for weapons training. My fourth monster is Grimbardun Smith for the immunity. Then I have River Nymph to cleanse my tank and my last monster is just a filler with dodge.
Round 1
At first glance, I think that this match could go either way. I am relying on quite a few magic monsters and that phase ability could be annoying. If it doesn't stay poisoned, then that tank will be an issue later in the match.
Round 2
I was able to take out the cleanse monster before it could move. So my opponent's tank will stay poisoned. Now it's a battle of endurance to see whether or not I can survive long enough.
Round 3
I lost three monsters while my opponent didn't lose any. His team is taking poison damage so I don't think much will change and it will just be a battle of endurance. If I can survive long enough, I win this match and I am missing quite a few magic attacks.
I was able to win the match a round later because I managed to stay alive.
Conclusion
The battle this time was exactly what I expected. I played a good strategy with the immunity monster and relied on a battle of endurance. I wasn't expecting that magic monster with phase so I was worried about whether or not I could kill it fast enough. The cleanse would also be an issue but lucky, I had the speed advantage due to my summoner and monsters.

What did you think of my match? Was there anything you would have done differently? I think it is quite interesting to see how different players use the same card.

Following the rounds of the match, I knew you will win
Congratulations
Grim is great for pox ruleset, when you get higher level he is almost unkillable with shield and armor repair :D
For some reasons I couldn't see the game through the link you dropped, I don't know why
Edit: I later saw the same, the immunity made the difference and you hid that card well from enemy's attack
That is weird. The link works for me. Maybe there is a bug somewhere.
I loathe this card... Like... I detest this card...
Only because I don't have one of course... 😂😂😂
