Splinterlands Engagement Challenge: Newbies Guide to Tournaments

Every week there is a Splinterlands challenge that can be found in this week's post. I also encourage Splinterlands players to partake in the challenge because they get to learn about the game. In this week's challenge, we discuss tournaments. I don't play these much anymore but I did in the past when I first started. It was the best way to start learning the game and it made me a better player.

Tournaments

These tournaments can be accessed through the Play menu and then going to the tournaments tab or by going to this link. Tournaments are a good place to learn about the cards and best setups. I used this a lot when I first started playing because it added some extra profit and I got better at the game much faster. You don't have to understand everything but figure out which lineups work better and work at incorporating them into your own lineup.

Above is a Tournament that was available. I did enter it later, but this has all the information about the tournament. The Entry cost is 50 DEC and you can see the max level for the cards that can be played. In this case, common cards are at level 3, rare at level 2, epic at level 2 and legendary cards at level 1. You can only use Rebellion cards.

Towards the left side of the screen, you can see how many people entered and the other requirements. You need at least 2,000 SPS staked and 6,633 POWER. It also mentions that you can submit matches anytime within 24 hours and there are multiple rounds. There are other tournaments that are live and require you to submit matches on time, but this is a more relaxing tournament. On the right is the rewards for the tournament.

One thing to note is that the cost for the tournament is the equivalent of 4.9 SPS. So if you place within the top 128, you profit if you place higher, then you will profit even further. You can take a look and some of the tournaments will make it quite easy to profit.

My Tournament

I forgot to take a screenshot with the enter match button, but in the red box, that is where you would find your matches under the arena tab. I already submitted all my matches. So it has a summary of how well you are doing. I didn't do so great in this tournament. I am ranked 60 with 7 matches played out. I did submit all 11 matches so there is a chance of 4 extra wins, but I don't think I will rank higher enough to advance. I am just not used to Rebellion cards. I don't know the meta but I am happy to know that I did at least profit from this tournament because ranking higher than 128 will be a profit. I still think there is a chance to get into the 33-64 ranks though.

Conclusion

This challenge was to look into tournaments. It's a part of the game that I used to play a lot and I do agree that it teaches you a lot. I wasn't used to just using Rebellion cards so I learned a bit more about those cards because I lost quite a few matches. However, I do think that it is a profitable place to enter. There don't seem to be enough people entering matches so it's a good time for people to enter. Good luck everyone if you do play tournaments.
