Brawl Report #117: Losing most of the real matches but the free wins are carrying me

Splinterland Brawls are a guild event where you can earn merits and SPS. This post serves as a way for me to review how my fights went and as a reminder to sign up for the next brawl. I have missed brawls in the past and it hurts when Gladius cards can now be used in ranked battles using the soulbound summoners. 4 star brawls are rough as the teams tend to be stronger. I am still in the gold league gold foil matches and I did well this time around. The fights are rough but at least I didn't get completely wiped out by my opponent

I chose the gold foil modern Brawl and got 5 wins. There were 3 free wins in this match because three guilds didn't submit someone for a game. My rewards for the brawl were 5,476 merits and 81.553 SPS in the 4-star category. My guild ranked 4th place out of the 9 guilds there. I choose to take the gold foil modern brawl because my guild usually doesn't fill all their spots and I prefer to give my other guild members a chance at the brawls. The rewards were slightly higher than last time and I think my guild did well. I think there were a lot of inactive guilds this time around so those free wins added up.

Brawl fights

There were 4 that I lost and 1 that I won. So I included an idea of the match below and a few thoughts about it.

image.png
You can find the first match here. I lost this match because my opponent had the stronger lineup. The speed difference made a huge difference and my opponent also had stronger cards than me.

image.png
You can find the second match here. I won this match because I took advantage of the ruleset. My tank also had bloodlust and that increased through either killing the monsters from attacks or from thorns. I also had a demoralize monster in the back and my last spot was a shield monster to defend against sneak monsters.

image.png
You can find the third match here. I lost this match because my opponent had the stronger lineup. The bloodlust monster with opportunity was a bit too much to overcome along with the speed disadvantage.

image.png
You can find the fourth match here. I lost this match because my opponent had the stronger lineup. The speed advantage from my opponent was too much for me to overcome and all those monsters attacking before me just killed off my monsters without giving me much of a chance.

image.png
You can find the fifth match here. I lost this match because my opponent had the stronger lineup. Dealing with a thorns monster up front wasn't good for me and that bloodlust monster was deadly with the ruleset.

Conclusion

Doing 9 fights for 5,476 merits and 81.553 SPS is a good reward for the effort. It wasn't as great as the last brawl, but getting so many free wins is great. I also managed to win one of my actual fights so I am happy that I am able to win some fights with the right lineup. It's hard to win fights when you are at a level disadvantage.

It's hard to get the top 3 spots in brawl, most of guild are little active but the ones active are hard to beat

I agree. Our guild tends to hit around 4th to 7th place usually. We have gotten 2nd or 3rd place a few times but it's pretty rare.
