A Dream Realized: Our First Morning in Singapore
There’s something incredibly special about traveling with friends you’ve known for decades. My high school friends and I had always talked about taking an international trip together, and we set a goal to make it happen by the time we turned 40. This year, we finally turned that dream into reality, choosing Singapore as our destination. The excitement was palpable as we touched down, even though it was already past 2:00 AM.
After a few hours of sleep at our hotel, we kicked off our first day with a much-needed coffee at 6 Oz, tucked inside the CapitaSpring building. The café’s cozy atmosphere and rich brews were the perfect start to our adventure. We chatted about our excitement for the day ahead, the buzz of the city outside fueling our energy. It was a simple but memorable moment—just us, enjoying our first morning together in a new country.
With caffeine in our systems, we set off to explore the Garden in the Sky. The views were breathtaking, offering a unique perspective of Singapore’s skyline. We took our time, soaking in the sights and snapping countless photos. The blend of nature and urban architecture was stunning, and we couldn’t help but feel proud of ourselves for making this trip happen.
From the Garden in the Sky, it was just a short walk to the Merlion. This iconic symbol of Singapore was a must-see on our list, and standing before it felt surreal. The Merlion’s majestic presence, with water cascading from its mouth into the Marina Bay, made for the perfect backdrop to our group photos. It was a moment of realization—here we were, halfway around the world, living out a goal we’d set years ago.
By the time we wrapped up our visit to the Merlion, we were ready for lunch. A short walk led us to a nearby Hawker center, where we indulged in local dishes. The vibrant atmosphere, the array of food options, and the bustling energy of the place made it a quintessential Singapore experience. We sampled everything from Hainanese chicken rice to laksa, each bite better than the last. It was a feast for the senses and a great way to immerse ourselves in the local culture.
After lunch, we headed back to our Hotel for a quick rest. With our early morning arrival in Singapore, we were all in need of a power nap to recharge for the rest of the day. The comfort of our hotel room was a welcome retreat, and we took full advantage of the downtime to relax and reflect on the incredible morning we’d just had.
Our first morning in Singapore was everything we’d hoped for and more. It was a perfect blend of sightseeing, food, and meaningful moments with friends. But the day was far from over. After our rest, we had an exciting afternoon itinerary lined up, which I’ll be sharing in my next post. Stay tuned for more of our Singapore adventure!

It’s so great to see you going on vacation with your friends and creating memories with them.
My friend and I are also planning something like this and I hope it materialises.
I just booked our ticket right away when they said that they're available on the dates we agreed 😂
