Resentment fuels bitterness : Brotherly Love Review

(Edited)

This is one of the best movies I've seen in recent times. The fact that it's centered on what shapes each individual to become who they are makes me love it even more. Family is an important treasure that should not be traded for anything, and that's why, if anyone misbehaves, one of the most crucial questions people will ask is, 'Which family is he from?' This shows the value that family holds in a child's life.

The movie centers on two half-brothers, Tobenna and Jidenna, who are from the same father but different mothers. The movie starts with a scene where their father's lawyer reads the will to them. I noticed the conflict between Tobenna and Jidenna's mother when he greeted her, and her reply was nothing but insults - the same response from Jidenna. They didn't have a good relationship with each other.

What led to reconciliation between them was the stipulation in their father's will that they both head his company, which owed the bank ₦38 million. Although they agreed that working together would be disastrous, they had no choice but to comply, lest their father's uncle take over.

For me, Tobenna seemed more experienced in the company's policies and operations. In his attempt to revive the company's reputation, he borrowed money from one of his father's customers, who claimed he could repay whenever he was able. However, things didn't play out as expected, and the customer started threatening him when he discovered that their uncle's son had taken over the company after presenting invalid papers.

Jidenna later found out that his mother resented Tobenna because his mother had betrayed her. His mother was her best friend, yet she gave birth to her husband's child. Jidenna made his mother understand that Tobenna wasn't at fault, but rather her friend and husband. The two brothers made amends and worked together to find a way to pay off the debt to the man threatening Tobenna.

I loved the movie, and the Igbo accents were one of the things that made me want to watch it again. So, if you're holding grudges against someone or resenting them, maybe it's time to make peace. Conflict breeds bitterness and insecurity. Imagine if the characters in this movie hadn't made peace - they would have passed on their resentment to their children, causing harm to their family and society.

I hope you gained insight from this review. Thank you for visiting my blog. Much love."
