My most Amiable but Destructive Friend
The twenty first century is characterized with great developments that is regarded as a revolution in human existence. The technological advancements in the world is just so amazing. Things have become much easier with the help of these things but at the same time bad. Well, that is life in itself. Nothing is of a perfect good for life. There is always a positive and negative side effect.
With the evolution of the mobile phones and more specifically the android phones, people's lives have been made better and also worst. Prior to 2007, we only had the Java phones which could do limited works. I remember when Blackberry phones were the talk of the town and people thought that nothing could be bigger and they could have dominated the world of phones but lagged behind and let Android rule. Now, Apple has learnt and is making great effort to maintain the standard and meet the taste of every user with the production of different styles.

The evolution of the Android and Apple phones has minimized greatly the use of PCs and of course that is due to its portability. Due to the portable nature, one is able to make use of it conveniently wherever one may be. This has done many goods to man but has also let to lots of damages. I shall share succinctly the two sides.
The Android phones of today are so well developed with lots of features to help one in many areas. Personally, I benefit so much from the use of my phone. I can count how many times I have used my PC this year because my phone does almost everything for me and much easier.
As a student, I use my phone for every of my academic works. There are times the lecturer gives a material to be studied for the course and I would need to buy. Most times, I just get the soft copy and I read through my phone and wouldn't need to buy the hard copy. The truth is that I really prefer this method with the phone because I can study the material anywhere and I wouldn't need to bother about the load of the book.
Very idle PC, hehe, designed with Canva
However, there is a problem here, most times with the pretense of studying, I am tempted to check a message and from there to watching a small video and that is how reading will be forgotten and other things will take place and then I will be in great pressure during the period of exams. I am actually working towards that discipline to do one thing at a time.
One great impact of my phone is financial aid. Our mobile Android phones are very powerful tools for financial upliftement. Well, I am not talking about using it for fraudulent acts like Yahoo yahoo. I am talking about real and genuine stuffs that help one to generate funds.
People use their phones to do online businesses and they make it big time. People use their phones to do Forex trading and all of that and they live well with the income they get. Prior to knowing hive, I had great interest to becoming financially independent even as a student. I don't like always calling someone to send me money for book or whatever.
All thanks to a friend who introduced me to hive and I started gradually and today I am enjoying everything. Within a space of one year and about six months, I have made more than 1.5 million Naira on hive and which I wouldn't have had from anywhere. This is with the help of this phone of mine which didn't even cost me up to seventy thousand Naira as at when I got it. Now, I can comfortably live without depending on anyone for my basics.
What about the connections that I have had with the help of my phone. There are lots of persons I have had as friends through a random chat on the social media and these have been wonderful partners for the life journey.
Oh! I can't forget this precious side of the goodness of my phone, hehe. How helpful it is to me to ease me of boredom. Please I am talking about watching xxx, noooooo!!! far from it. I am a lover of soccer and I love it anyway and any how. To play soccer physically, to watch an ongoing match or to play it as a game on phone. This is what I do in my leisure time. In fact my screen time record always has more hours dedicated to my soccer game, hehe. Indeed, over time, my phone has become my best friend. But does it mean, it's a perfect friend?? Noooooooo, just read below and see how bad it is, hehe.
This game wants to finish my life time, hehe
Prior to having an android phone, I used to be a very prayerful Christian. As a Catholic Christian, I would make sure I said my Rosary everyday, read the Bible at least three chapters daily and have some time for personal meditations. But all these have reduced drastically because I claim to be busy but with what?? My phone.
So you see, my phone has caused me my relationship with my creator which was a very beautiful relationship. Sometimes i feel like cutting myself from the so many commitments with my phone but I can't just see myself doing that but it keeps hurting my life. What about the time I am supposed to use to relate with family members?
Relationship with family is now secondary, I now prefer to chat with a ghost out there somewhere unknown than my beloved brother or sister and so I can stay days without calling anyone from home but I speak with that fine babe whose origin I do not know everyday. This is a problem and I am heading to doom with these.
I have a plan and I hope that it works out fine for me. I am thinking of implementing a great level of discipline in my life and set a limit for the usage of my phone and nourish my real life better. I hope I am able to do this.
I am glad to share this thought with you in response to the thinkers corner challenge for the month hosted by @kenechukwu97. Thank you so much for reading.

I can really relate with your post because I'm experiencing similar thing. We spend more time with our phones than with family members and friends and that makes the gap of socialization wider. It's a habit that needs to be curbed by fire by force 😂
Give a gini??
Nne oya send me some have 🙄🙄🙄
Yes o, it needs to be curbed, hehe
Thanks for reading ma
Hello, Bro. I'm sorry for showing up late to share my thoughts on your entry to this month's edition of The Thinker's Corner Challenge.
Talking about our phones and how it has played a big part in serving us spicy entertainment, Dream League Soccer games had me hooked back in the day. Haha. I haven't flexed those for a couple of years. Instead, I've been spending some free time playing football 2024 on my Phone.
Phones really offer so much, especially for someone who knows how to use them the proper way. The fact that we can earn by doing stuff with our phones is actually mind-blowing. This has been a game changer for a lot of people's finances and yours have obviously taken a very inspiring route. Congratulations, Bro.
After reading about the shortcomings you've noticed in your relationship with God and your real-life family, I genuinely hope the plans you have in place will play a big part in making it easier for you to set a limit for the usage of your smartphone.
Good luck, Bro.
