I want to share with you today a new review, I will tell you about my experience reading "Esperando el diluvio" by Dolores Redondo. This story became interesting to me, and I got to know it through a Tiktok video, so I decided to give it a chance. The main plot revolves around Noah, a Scottish detective who is obsessed with catching a daring serial killer known as Jhon Biblia. What's interesting here is that the author takes a real-life case that occurred in the 1960s and expands it, taking it to new horizons...

Mixing fact with fiction in a very good way. The action starts in Scotland, in 1983... just when a big city is about to suffer a devastating flood... And we are presented with this complicated scenario as the perfect place to develop a story with a lot of suspense, chases and unexpected twists and turns. I loved the way the author presented and portrayed the Bilbao of the time... all gray, industrial but with a lot of personality.

Quiero compartirles el día de hoy una nueva reseña, les hablaré de mi experiencia leyendo "Esperando el diluvio" de Dolores Redondo. Esta historia se me hizo interesante, y la conocí por un vídeo de Tiktok, así que decidí darle una oportunidad. La trama principal gira en torno a Noah, un detective escocés que está obsesionado con atrapar a un audaz asesino en serio conocido como Jhon Biblia. Lo interesante aquí es que la autora toma un caso de la vida real ocurrido en los años 60 y lo expande, llevándolo a nuevos horizontes..

Mezclando realidad con ficción de una manera muy buena. La acción empieza en Escocia, en 1983.. justo cuando una gran ciudad está a punto de sufrir unas devastadoras inundaciones.. Y se nos presenta este complicado escenario como el lugar perfecto para que se desarrolle una historia con mucho suspenso, persecuciones y giros inesperados. Me encanto la manera en cómo la autora presento y retrato el Bilbao de la época.. todo gris, industrial pero con mucha personalidad.

Among one of the things I enjoyed most was the character building that this book has. Noah is a complex, and at times fascinating protagonist...it's great to see how he deals not only with the killer, but also with all of his demons and a heart condition that threatens to end his life at any moment. The tension this generates is very interesting, it builds up nicely as you progress through the pages. The details about the daily life in Bilbao, all the political and social tensions... make you feel like you are there, this way of getting you into the story that the authors cause I always like.

Deep themes such as obsession, evil and the complexity of criminal psychology are also explored. The inclusion of a psychiatrist to help profile the killer adds a layer of realism to the work that I really appreciated... and well, I also liked that this was a standalone novel, you don't need to have read other works by the author to enjoy it in its entirety, which makes this story accessible to everyone, especially new readers who are looking for something to entertain and read for pleasure. As for the pacing... I thought it was good, normal... I feel it flows adequately, there are some moments of intense action, and also calmer, more reflective occasions, which drive the character developments. This kept me going from beginning to end.

Entre una de las cosas que más disfrute fue la construcción de los personajes que tiene este libro. Noah es un protagonista complejo, y en algunas ocasiones fascinante.. es genial ver cómo lidiar no solo con el asesino, sino también contra todos sus demonios y una enfermedad cardíaca que amenaza con acabar con su vida en cualquier momento. La tensión que esto genera es muy interesante, se va desarrollando muy bien conforme avanzas en las páginas. Los detalles sobre la vida cotidiana en Bilbao, todas las tensiones políticas y sociales.. te hacen sentir como si estuvieras allí, esta manera de meterte en la historia que causa los autores siempre me gusta.

También se exploran temas profundos como la obsesión, el mal y la complejidad de la psicología criminal. La inclusión de una psiquiatra que ayuda a perfilar al asesino añade una capa de realismo a la obra que aprecie mucho.. y bueno, también me gustó que se tratara de una novela independiente, no necesitas haber leído otras obras de la autora para disfrutarla en su totalidad, lo que hace que está historia sea accesible para todo el mundo, en especial para los nuevos lectores que están buscando algo para entretenerse y leer por gusto. En cuanto al ritmo.. me pareció bueno, normal.. Siento que fluye adecuadamente, hay algunos momentos de acción intensa, y también ocasiones más calmadas y reflexivas, que impulsan los desarrollos de los personajes. Esto me mantuvo de principio a fin.

My personal opinion about this book is that I was positively surprised, it is the first work I read by this author and I found it excellent. She has managed to create a story that not only entertains, but also makes you think a lot... the way of mixing real elements with fictional touches that complement each other well is very admirable. I really enjoyed imaginatively immersing myself in Bilbao and feeling the tension building as the deluge approached...both literally and metaphorically. If I had to put something I didn't like at all, it would be that I didn't quite connect with the presentation of the historical details within the story, I got a little lost because of this, but well, you can tell that the author had her research process to make the story.

This novel skillfully combines suspense with a deep exploration of human nature and psychology. It is a book that grabbed me, makes you think a lot and left me with a good feeling afterwards. In terms of rating I give it a good 4.5/5. It's a very good read, I know more I recommend it especially to mystery fans. If you give it a chance, you will surely end up being transported to another era, and this is always interesting. i hope you liked it, this review, take care! See you soon!

Mi opinión personal sobre este libro, es que me sorprendió positivamente, es la primera obras que leo de esta autora y pues me pareció excelente. Ha conseguido crear una historia que no solo entretiene, sino que también te hace pensar mucho.. la manera de mezclar elementos reales con toques ficticios que se complementen bien es muy admirable. Me gustó mucho sumergirme imaginariamente en Bilbao y sentir la tensión creciente a medida que se acercaba el diluvio.. tanto literal como metafóricamente. Si tuviera que ponerle algo que no me agrado del todo, sería que no conecte del todo con la presentación de los detalles históricos dentro de la historia, me perdí un poco por esto, pero bueno, se nota que la autora tuvo su proceso de investigación para realizar la historia.

Esta novela combina muy bien hábilmente el suspenso con una profunda exploración de la naturaleza humana, y de la psicología. Es un libro que me atrapó, te hace pensar mucho y me dejó con un buen sentimiento después. En cuanto a calificación le doy un buen 4.5/5. Es una lectura muy buena, sé más recomiendo especialmente a los fanáticos del misterio. Si le dan una oportunidad, seguramente terminarán siendo transportados a otra época, y esto siempre es interesante. ¡Espero les haya gustado, esta reseña, cuidense! Nos veremos!
