Lily was an only child, and her parents were always busy with work, leaving her alone at home most of the time. But Lily didn't mind. She was a resourceful girl and found plenty of things to do to keep herself occupied.

One day, Lily's parents told her that they had to go out of town for a few days for an important work conference. They couldn't take her with them, so they decided to leave her at home with their neighbor, Mrs. Thompson, who promised to check on Lily every day.

Lily was excited to have the house all to herself. She planned out her days, making a list of all the things she wanted to do. She was going to make her own meals, watch movies, and even have a slumber party with her stuffed animals.

The first day, Lily woke up early and started making herself breakfast. She made herself some pancakes and scrambled eggs, feeling proud of herself for cooking on her own. After breakfast, she cleaned up the kitchen and started watching some cartoons.

As the day went on, Lily started to feel a bit lonely. She missed her parents and wished they were there with her. She decided to call them, but they were still in a meeting and couldn't talk. Lily felt a bit sad, but she knew she had to be strong and enjoy her time alone.

The next day, Lily woke up to a loud noise outside. She looked out the window and saw that a storm had blown in. The wind was howling, and the rain was pouring down. Lily felt a bit scared, but she knew she had to be brave. She made herself some hot chocolate and turned on some music to distract herself from the storm.

As the day went on, the storm got worse. The power went out, and Lily was left in the dark. She lit some candles and tried to find things to do, but she couldn't focus on anything. She was too scared of the storm.

Suddenly, there was a knock at the door. Lily froze, not knowing what to do. She peeked through the window and saw a man standing outside. He looked friendly enough, but Lily didn't know him. She decided to ignore him and went to her room to hide.

The man knocked on the door a few more times, but eventually, he went away. Lily was relieved, but she knew she had to be careful. She locked all the doors and windows and made sure everything was secure.

The rest of the day was a blur. Lily didn't do much. She just sat in her room and waited for the storm to pass. She was relieved when her parents finally called, letting her know they were on their way home.

When her parents arrived, Lily was so happy to see them. She hugged them tightly and told them all about her adventures. She told them about the storm, the man who knocked on the door, and how she had to be brave and strong.

Her parents were impressed with how well Lily had handled herself. They were proud of their little girl and promised to spend more time with her from then on.

From that day on, Lily learned that being alone wasn't always easy, but it was something she could handle. She had her moments of fear and doubt, but she also had moments of bravery and strength. And she knew that no matter what happened, she could always count on herself to get through it
