DIY Vegetable Soup
Hi, welcome to my blog. Sit tight as I drive you through the path of making my DIY Vegetable soup. The traditional Sunday rice is not for today so I decided to do something differently. Firstly let me mention the ingredients I used.
Ingredients
- Stock fish
- Dry fish
- Waterleaf
- Vegetable (pumpkin leaves)
- Maggi
- Salt
- Onions
- Pepper
- Red oil
Procedure
One thing I don't like about vegetable soup is the prepping, it takes lots of time. If I have someone that could do the prepping for me then cooking vegetable soup will be easier for me.
Firstly
I slice my water leaf into tiny pieces. When I got to the market I thought I could buy more since it did rained and vegetables won't be that expensive but it was still the same price and quantity upon I have to go early to the market. Without further ado, let's continue.
Secondly
I plucked out my pumpkin leaves (vegetable) before washing them. I wash with salt and I wash two times before slicing. After washing I will slice into tiny pieces.
Thirdly
I wash my stock fish very well, most people will prefer beef and other protein but I will be using just stock fish. I add onion, maggi, salt into my stock fish, added some water before I put it on fire to boil. I steam till the stock fish is done. I add some grinded pepper.
Fourth
I wash my waterleaf and leave on seive for it to drain water while my stock fish steam.
Fifty
I remove the chaf from my dry fish taking just the fish. Most times I grind the head with portal and it serves as my crayfish but I won't be doing that today. I will just go ahead to just put the fish after I separated it from the dirt and add it to my stock fish which is already steaming.
Sixth
After my stock fish must have done, I don't like it being too hard nor too soft. I will check the amount of water in my stock fish, if it is too much I will reduce the water. Vegetable soup doesn't require much water since waterleaf have water. I add my waterleaf and turn till it mixes with fish stock and allow to steam. Don't add any water even though it seems like it requires more water by the time it will start steaming the water in the waterleaf will add up.
Seventh
After add my waterleaf, I add red oil and onions too and allow to steam together. I taste for salt. If it requires salt. I will add or some cube of maggi after which I add my sliced vegetable (pumpkin leaf) I turned together mix it up together. Check for taste after which I allow it to steam for sometime before I bring it down.
My vegetable soup is already ready to be consumed. Prefered with garri or white rice or joff rice but my best compo is with garri.
