Finalmente esta primera fase al estilo liga culminó el día de ayer con un total de 18 partidos en simultáneo, algo nunca visto en la competición, para definir los equipos que pasaban directos a los octavos de final y a los que les tocaba jugarselas en los playoff. Tener tantos partidos al mismo tiempo sinceramente puede ser algo muy entretenido o una completa pesadilla para los que queríamos ver un poco de cada juego pero bueno, así ha sido siempre, la última jornada se juega en el mismo horario. Lo interesante del asunto es que antes de los encuentros de ayer habían equipos que podían quedar fuera de una manera bastante sencilla y sorpresiva, grandes clubes pudieron haberse quedado fuera en esta primera ronda.

Creo que el partido más "trascendental" de ayer fue el del Manchester City vs Club Brujas ya que los ingleses estaban afuera de todo y solo dependían de si mismos para avanzar, tenían que ganar si o si para que la temporada no fuese un fracaso. Al final ganaron 3-1 después de haber remontado un 0-1 en un segundo tiempo en donde salieron con otra mentalidad y con un tal Savinho a cambiarle la cara a los ciudadanos. ¿Esperaba otra cosa? - la verdad no, a pesar del momento del club creo que al final estos equipos grandes terminan haciendo los deberes.

Equipos que ganaron, como la teoría lo decía: Real Madrid, Bayern, PSG, Dortmund. Por otro lado el Barcelona empató con el Atalanta y no pudo aprovechar la inesperada derrota del Liverpool para escalar al liderato de la tabla. En lo más alto de esa tabla se ubicaron a mi parecer par de clubes que nadie esperaba que estuviesen allí: Aston Villa y el Lille francés. Este nuevo formato, raro para algunos, tiene la particularidad de que en apenas los octavos de final podamos ver grandes enfrentamientos en parte por la posición precaria en las que quedaron dichos clubes. Que en un mismo grupo de posibles cara-cara estén el City, Madrid y el Bayern es una locura, nos da indicios de que estos octavos pueden ser muy atractivos pero al mismo tiempo pueden ser un arma de doble fijo porque al eliminar a los grandes tan temprano, ¿que podemos esperar para las instancias finales?

En términos generales este formato si bien es verdad es raro creo que no me ha molestado del todo, abre un poco el abanico de posibilidades y es menos restrictivo a la hora de considerar los cruces. Este sorteo será mañana en donde se conocerá como quedarán estos playoff. Siento que a partir de esta nueva fase veremos a los equipos de una manera distinta a lo visto hasta ahora, es probable que veamos un reset y los que están llamados a figurar comiencen a hacerlo. El nivel de juego de algunos equipos ha sido lamentable durante esta mitad de temporada, yo esperaría que a partir de ahora esa tendencia cambie. Obviamente no por magia sino por necesidad y por el peso del escudo.

Pero, ¿que es lo que se pudiera saber hasta ahora? - pues la posibilidad de un Barca-PSG en octavos, un Inter-Milán o Inter-Juve, un Real Madrid-Atlético, etc. Claro, esto dependerá del sorteo y de lo que hagan algunos clubes en los playoff. Como dije, al abanico es amplio y esto da pie para que el espectáculo se de desde temprano en la Champions. La conclusión es que no hubo grandes sorpresas en los equipos eliminados, al ser una liguilla todo cambia muy rápido y da cierto margen a los equipos de recuperarse ligando también a lo que pueda pasar en otras canchas. Mañana veremos como queda parte del cuadro y del que espero salgan grandes playoff.

El Milan perdió una gran oportunidad, pues con una victoria quedaba entre los 8 primeros sin problemas. Y al final perdió con un equipo eliminado.
Tristeza por decirlo de alguna manera me da el Atalanta, que viene jugando excelente pero quedó de 9no jaja. Ahora le toca playoffs como a otro grandes equipos.
Es que ahí se metieron tanto el Lille como el Aston Villa, que para mi si fueron grandes sorpresas. Creo que es por el formato y porque Champions y las ligas siempre se dan y se juegan distinto. Pero si, lo del Milan fue raro porque no les dio ni chance de disfrutar el empate.
