(ESP-ENG) Nuevas canciones y sonidos, esto lo dejó Mayo // New songs and sounds, this is what May left
Hello friends, good vibes to all.
Music never stops, artists, singers and bands are always creating new things to satisfy their own needs and those of their fans. I used to do this kind of publications every two months but I realized that in that time there is a lot of new songs coming out so I decided to do this monthly. Choosing in that sea of music that can be formed in sixty days was very complicated because if it was for me the publication would be 15 songs but that's not the idea. So today I will show you this small selection of the songs that caught my attention...
I always try to make it as varied as possible, but of course, everything will depend on the songs that will be released in the corresponding month. So this time I think that the women won ground since they were the ones who released more music and therefore their songs will be seen here. Without further ado, let's see this good music.
- Lady Gaga - Hold My Hand
This is the official song of the movie Top Gun which is currently in theaters and the truth is that it is a real gem in the voice of Lady Gaga. She is one of the artists that has always impressed me the most because of how versatile she is since she is able to sing whatever they put in front of her but for me what she does best are the ballads and the proof of that is this song. A song that talks about not giving up and that there will always be the helping hand or support of someone or God himself, as you want to interpret it, to help us move forward and never end up falling. Years go by and she continues with that thunderous voice that is capable of filling any place, even if you listen to it with headphones. Great song, one that gives you goosebumps when you understand the context of the movie and even without having seen it when you listen to it, I'm sure that something inside you will be moved. Super heartfelt, as only Lady Gaga knows how to do it.
- Christina Aguilera - La Reina
Honestly, I am not a ranchera lover but this song is incredible for several reasons. The first one is because of her characteristic voice, those tones and nuances that she gives to the notes that are so much her, make the song much more spectacular than it could be. The second is because ALL the musicians you see around her are Venezuelan, they are great composers. And the third is because we hear her singing in Spanish after a long time, in fact this song is part of her last album which she did in Spanish. La Reina is apparently a response to the very famous and well known ranchera El Rey by José Alfredo Jiménez. Phrases like: "Y aunque sigas siendo el rey y no haya nadie que te comprenda, aunque sigas siendo el rey, te quedaste sin la reina" is a clear reference to that song from the sixties. I was very surprised to hear this song because it is a genre that I had never heard Christina Aguilera so it is the confirmation that she is able to sing, like Gaga, anything. Many complained about her pronunciation but she doesn't speak Spanish fluently, so nothing to criticize from here.
- Calvin Harris, Dua Lipa, Young Thug - Potion
Once again we see this duo making a collaboration after the resounding success "One Kiss" about four years ago. This time they come with a style somewhat similar to that song, Potion has a very marked vibe, for me, of the eighties where everything shone and were neon lights. The evolution that Dua Lipa has had is one of the greatest I've seen in an artist lately, I remember that she was told that she didn't know how to dance because in her shows she didn't do it well. Now it turns out that she is one of the best performers on stage today. The calm way in which she sings is another thing that also catches my attention and is that Dua Lipa is not one of those who are going to reach high notes or very high notes, like the two previous singers, but she doesn't really need it. Of course, the whole beat and concept is the work of Calvin Harris who is a master for this kind of things, all very funky. Great song, to relax and enjoy it.
- Sean Paul - Light My Fire ft. Gwen Stefani and Shenseea
We go back to the origins, back to the beginning of the 2000s. Sean Paul at that time sounded a lot, he had several hits that today are still a reference, for example: Give It Up To Me or Get Busy/Like Glue. Those were great songs at the time and to think that after 15 years he is still releasing songs with the same essence is something that few can do. Besides that, here we hear another icon like Gwen Stefani who also back in 2010 swept the world with "No Doubt". When I saw this collaboration I must confess that I didn't expect it at all, it is one of those featuring that didn't even remotely cross your mind but now that you hear it, it was so necessary. And they are sounds and voices that at least to me, take me back to a time of my youth that I missed without knowing it, pure nostalgia then. This song with that reggae vibe without being entirely so is very contagious, especially the lines of Gwen with his voice so particular, has been one of the great discoveries so far, very good song.
- Måneskin - SuperModel
And to finish with this Italian band that to be honest is giving a lot to talk about lately. They became known thanks to the song "Beggin" and social networks. From that moment their fame catapulted to levels that I think they did not imagine and since then they have released a lot of new music and one of them is this song almost just out of the oven with just two days of release. They are a very good band with a very marked and peculiar style but with an incredibly good sound, Supermodel and its video proves it. It's like a rock taken by the way of pop that doesn't sound bad at all and what makes it so well received I think it's the singer's voice, a deep and deep voice. I invite you to check out their live performances because they really don't miss a thing. The only thing I hope is that they don't stop singing in Italian, as they have some songs in that language that are really worth listening to.
This little list is what I liked the most of May, songs for all tastes but great songs at last. Collaborations that I didn't expect, styles that I didn't imagine I would like but the same great voices being as powerful and incredible as always.
