(ESP-ENG) House of the Dragon - Season II Finale Review!
Hello friends, good vibes to all.
The second season of House of the Dragon came to an end on Sunday, a season that has been highly criticized because for many it was not what was expected. It is known that this story will end with the fourth season, the third will begin filming early next year and the end will be in a few more years. I think that the serious problem that this series has are its fans and that is that they expect each chapter to be like the fourth of this season where we saw the battle of dragons where Meleys, Vhagar and Sunfyre and the truth is that this is impossible. What they have to understand is that this season was one of transition, of diplomacy, a merely political one before the great war.
Another mistake is the management of expectations. Chapter seven, the penultimate chapter, ended in the best way, with Queen Rhaenyra's dragons and their new riders waiting for Aemond and Vhagar and the latter fleeing from the surprise he had just received. This evidently stuck in the minds of many as they expected the season finale to be something spectacular. Honestly I did not expect much because the center of all this conflict is ONE war so it was impossible for it to start just now. What we did see were all the scenarios put on the table to start thinking about such a battle. What's more, I go further, be careful if in the third season we are still not part of this war, which I see very likely.
I can understand that since dragons are the main protagonists of this part of the story, people wanted to see more of them, and by that I mean seeing them spitting fire at each other or devouring small towns and cities. Maybe that was a little lacking, a single chapter of 8 was not enough to calm people's desire, especially if the vast majority of those who see this saw GOT and that every time a dragon came out it was an important event. Personally I did not mind so much the lack of action because instead we were given the opportunity to learn more about the world around them, how to earn the right to be their riders, the rituals and ceremonies, we were introduced to almost all of them and even if it was little we could see what some of them are capable of.
This seems very mystical to me and is what I enjoyed most about this season. Both the seventh and the last episode were entirely about that. Talking a bit more about this season finale the IMDb people scored, so far, with 6.4 being one of the lowest rated finales considering the first season's was 9.3. But, something interesting had to have happened, right? - Well yes, the conversation between Rhaenyra and Alicent was one of the most particular things because of the famous phrase "A son for a son", the change of position of the former queen before the situations that have been presented to her, her father and her children, is to study. Power corrupts, fortunately and in theory she has managed not to fall into that hole.
And the second remarkable thing is the whole plot of Daemon. For me it is suspicious what we saw in this last chapter, in those visions he had we were shown all GOT and maybe it is a kind of epiphany or a manipulation to then give a coup d'etat to the legitimate queen. The issue here is that with respect to the books all that line is changed a bit so we do not know for sure what the future holds. Anyway, the ending was a bit slower than expected but full of situations that hint that the best is yet to come. See it as a kind of chess game where everyone moves their pieces to cover their interests.
The fact that the Lannisters have been given more prominence is also a good sign that the plot will be expanding and that it is also known that the Starks are also said to be seen more in the next season. This is just getting started. Yes, it was less epic than the first but I still rate it pretty highly, not everything can be war and conflict every chapter. I repeat, this was a transition for what is coming in the next two seasons.
Well my people that's all for today, I hope you liked it.
¡A hug to everyone, see you next time!
