Las comedias románticas es un género del cual no soy muy fanático, muchas veces las veo cursis y con un exceso de clichés que honestamente cansan bastante. A lo mejor soy yo que estoy predispuesto y tengo el ojo juzgador al máximo o realmente son así y es que simplemente no encajan con mis gustos. La cosa es que Hit Man llegó a Netflix y la crítica positiva hacia este film ha sido abrumadora, no es que confíe plenamente en los criterios de estas páginas pero Rotten Tomatoes le da un 97% y la audiencia un 93%, esos números son una locura si me lo preguntan, de ahí a que mi curiosidad se haya activado y haya decidido darle una oportunidad a este curiosa y divertida película.

Romantic comedies are a genre of which I am not a big fan, many times I find them cheesy and with an excess of clichés that honestly are quite tiring. Maybe it's just me being biased and having my judgmental eye to the max or maybe they really are like that and they just don't fit my tastes. The thing is that Hit Man arrived on Netflix and the positive criticism towards this film has been overwhelming, not that I fully trust the criteria of these pages but Rotten Tomatoes gives it a 97% and the audience a 93%, those numbers are crazy if you ask me, hence my curiosity has been activated and I decided to give this curious and funny movie a chance.

Esta es la historia de Gary Johnson (Glen Powell), un tipo de lo más común y corriente que puede haber. Es un profesor universitario de psicología al mismo tiempo que colabora con la policía en el área de vigilancia ya que tiene cierta habilidad con los dispositivos electrónicos. Un buen día gracias a ciertas circunstancias le toca suplir a un compañero, este se dedica a ser un sicario falso con la finalidad de atrapar a aquellas personas que paguen por asesinar a otras personas. Esto lo lleva a un camino en donde le toca adoptar varias personalidades y adaptarse lo mejor posible para que no sea descubierto durante los diferentes operativos.

This is the story of Gary Johnson (Glen Powell), a very ordinary guy. He is a university professor of psychology and at the same time collaborates with the police in the area of surveillance because he has some skill with electronic devices. One day, thanks to certain circumstances, he has to fill in for a colleague, this is dedicated to being a fake hitman in order to catch those people who pay for murdering other people. This leads him to a path where he has to adopt several personalities and adapt as best as possible so as not to be discovered during the different operations.

Su tasa de efectividad es muy alta, sorprendentemente es sumamente efectivo en esta nueva tarea por lo que rápidamente se acopla muy bien a esta nueva responsabilidad. Todo cambia un día en donde le toca atender a una clienta nueva, una tal Madison Masters (Adria Arjona) quien está muy asustada, temerosa y llena de dudas ya que ha decidido querer matar a su esposo. Evidentemente algo pasa acá y la efectividad de Gary se ve comprometida ya que en vez de querer entregar a la esta mujer con la policía decide ayudarla. Esto hace que poco a poco toda la situación se vaya saliendo de control al punto de el propio Gary es consumido por uno de sus alter egos. Aquí comienza todo el viaje de un romance medio prohibido acompañado de una serie de eventos llenos de comedia e intrigas.

His effectiveness rate is very high, surprisingly he is extremely effective in this new task so he quickly adapts very well to this new responsibility. Everything changes one day when he has to attend to a new client, a certain Madison Masters (Adria Arjona) who is very scared, fearful and full of doubts since she has decided to kill her husband. Evidently something happens here and Gary's effectiveness is compromised because instead of wanting to turn this woman in to the police, he decides to help her. This gradually causes the whole situation to spiral out of control to the point that Gary himself is consumed by one of his alter egos. Here begins the journey of a half forbidden romance accompanied by a series of events full of comedy and intrigue.

Como he dicho este tipo de tramas en donde lo que predomina es la comedia basada en una relación no son de mi agrado pero por alguna razón este film no me ha molestado tanto, creo que es porque esa cursilería de la que les hablé antes no es tan evidente y cansona como en la mayoría de los films. La comedia es buena, hay cosas que sacan risas genuinas; la parte romántica es simple pero efectiva y esto es básicamente porque la química entre los dos actores es muy evidente y notoria. En realidad la trama no aburre porque es super entretenida, sorpresivamente me mantuvo a la expectativa siempre y que a medida que avanza la historia pareciera que hay algo por resolver que no deja que la atención se pierda.

As I said this kind of plots where what predominates is the comedy based on a relationship are not to my liking but for some reason this film has not bothered me so much, I think it's because that cheesiness of which I spoke before is not as obvious and tiresome as in most films. The comedy is good, there are things that bring out genuine laughs; the romantic part is simple but effective and this is basically because the chemistry between the two actors is very evident and noticeable. Actually the plot doesn't bore because it is super entertaining, surprisingly it kept me in expectation always and as the story progresses it seems that there is something to solve that doesn't let the attention get lost.

No es una película de grandes efectos ni una acción trepidante, todo se basa en rasgos humanos de la personalidad y temas como la autoestima y el querer tomar el control de tu vida como aquella persona que realmente quieres ser. Al ser un profesor de psicología él maneja muy bien estas cosas, al final todo se centra en personalidades múltiples como un escape a su propia vida o un atajo a la vida que él quisiera vivir. Al final la moraleja de todo, según lo que me quedó del film, es que cada quien debería de descubrir quienes son realmente y basar su personalidad según ese descubrimiento. Al final todo se trata de lo que realmente te haga estar pleno sin pensar mucho en el que dirán.

It's not a big effects movie or fast-paced action, it's all about human personality traits and themes like self-esteem and wanting to take control of your life as the person you really want to be. Being a psychology professor he handles these things very well, in the end it all centers around multiple personalities as an escape from his own life or a shortcut to the life he would like to live. In the end the moral of it all, from what I took away from the film, is that everyone should discover who they really are and base their personality on that discovery. In the end it's all about what really makes you fulfilled without thinking too much about what people will say.

Glen es muy buen actor, la verdad es que en este film lo consigue hacer muy bien, es un tipo gracioso el cual está hecho para este papel. Es un papel simple, la película no es tan profunda como para ponerse muy técnicos pero si, hizo una interpretación cool. Adria es el complemento perfecto, honestamente no la tenía en el radar más allá de su aparición en la nefasta Morbius y Andor de Star Wars pero también tiene lo suyo, al igual que con Glen su papel es medio genérico pero el necesario para que la película sea lo que es, bastante entretenida. Los dos funcionan muy bien juntos, 100 puntos para el casting porque lograron una buena pareja. Muy buenos personajes secundarios por cierto, ayudaron mucho a darle chispa a la historia.

Glen is a very good actor, the truth is that in this film he manages to do very well, he is a funny guy who is made for this role. It's a simple role, the film is not deep enough to get too technical but yes, he gave a cool performance. Adria is the perfect complement, I honestly didn't have her on the radar beyond her appearance in the nefarious Morbius and Andor from Star Wars but she has her own thing going on as well, as with Glen her role is kind of generic but the one needed to make the movie what it is, quite entertaining. The two of them work very well together, 100 points for the casting because they made a good couple. Very good supporting characters by the way, they helped a lot to give spark to the story.

Le doy un 8/10. Estaba muy escéptico con esta película pero al final terminó siendo muy buena. Una trama divertida con un par de plot twist interesantes. La pueden encontrar en Netflix y tiene una duración de poco menos de dos horas. Les dejo el tráiler por acá y así le echan un ojo.

I give it an 8/10. I was very skeptical of this movie but in the end it ended up being very good. A fun plot with a couple of interesting plot twists. You can find it on Netflix and it's just under two hours long. I'll leave the trailer here so you can check it out.

Creo que la mayoría, para no decir todos huimos de las películas románticas jaja, pero bueno, si tiene un toque de comedia, allí la cosa suele cambiar, a mí me gustan asi, pero que sea más comedia que romance jiji, la tendré en cuenta, saludos.

Yo que no soy nada amante del género la verdad es que me gustó, se me hizo entretenida y divertida. Y bueno que la trama tiene sus detalles interesantes. Si vale la pena, es posible que te guste.
