(ESP-ENG) Febrero y sus estrenos musicales!
Hello friends, good vibes to all.
As has become a classic around these parts the first days of each month I come with what are the musical premieres that are making more noise both globally and in my headphones, those songs that came to be heard and fill the "void" left by the previous month. Today's songs I can say that they are quite good, logically I will put a few of them but I think it will be enough to understand the magnitude of the artists who are releasing new songs, there are some interesting and especially nostalgic returns. I believe that music is the most effective way to activate that feeling and in this opportunity, with a specific song, you will be able to see very clearly that example. Pop, rock, metal and even ballads, that's what you will hear in my top of this month's releases.
- Lost - Linkin Park
Recently I talked about Linkin Park and how they had marked a before and after in the world of music due to the death of Chester, I also said that it was not known when they were going to release new material because the truth was not known anything, fortunately all that changed yesterday. "Lost" is an unreleased track from that great album of theirs called ""Meteora", one that has been one of the most successful of their entire discography. The thing is that the voice is Chester Bennington's and for those of us who are fans of this band, listening to this gentleman again is a blow to the heart, his voice so unmistakable, rough, broken and even guttural is what made him one of the best vocalists of the genre of all time. Both the lyrics and the video are incredible. It tells us a bit about what it means to be lost in oneself, not knowing what to do, pretending to be in pain and trying to hide it without knowing that rather than helping, what it ends up doing is immense damage. It gains more strength when we know the context of Chester's suicide, it is a lyric that may perfectly describe his situation or that can be used as a reference. And well, the video is a tribute to Chester himself in the best anime style that is really top notch. Bravo for Linkin Park, they made the fans feel the real nostalgia with a very good and heartfelt song.
- Flowers - Miley Cyrus
We have to talk about Miley's Flowers and we have to do it because with this song something very curious happens. This song belongs to her new album, "Endless summer vacation" which will be released soon, so this song is one of her singles and boy, did she get it right. If you notice in the chorus there is a certain similarity to another great pop song, doesn't it ring a bell? - Well, I'm talking about "When I was your man" by Bruno Mars and this song is a response to Bruno's smash hit. The context has nothing to do with the music, it goes a little further and enters into Miley's personal life, so I will not talk about that, but yes, both in the melody and in the lyrics you can see where the arrows are going. The song talks a little bit about how empowered women can be with the fact that they don't need anyone to be well, they can do everything themselves, buy themselves flowers, hold their own hands, talk to themselves and even dance by themselves. It may sound like just another one of the bunch but I would recommend you to listen to Bruno's song first to understand better. Now, the song is an anthem today, does this mean it's bad? - Not at all, I feel it's a great song plus Miley Cyrus has an awesome voice and style which helps this song to be what it is, a smash hit.
- Romperme más - Beret, Malú
We get to the slower and more romantic touch, to that ballad in Spanish that can never be missed, and I do it with one of the most underrated voices in this vast genre. On more than one occasion I have said it, Beret is one of those singers that people should listen to more and pay more attention to because his lyrics, beyond whether they are "vein cutters" or not, are really good. Well, the truth is that not all his songs are like that but we could say that it is part of his essence. This time she duets with Malú, another singer with a privileged voice from Spain, in a song that tells us a little bit about how complicated relationships can be when one of the parties is not 100% committed, when even though there is a deep affection it is often better to leave everything as it is so that the relationship does not suffer more. I have been listening to Beret for a few years now and I can say that it is very difficult to find a bad song, you may like some more than others, but there is no really bad song and for me few artists have that. So beyond listening to this beautiful song I invite you to listen to Beret's work, it is really worth it.
- Liar - Paramore
Paramore is the perfect example of the word evolution. Listening to them a few years ago and doing that exercise again with this new album they released after a long period without music is to realize that many have changed without having broken with their main essence. Personally, Hayley Williams' voice is one that to me transmits an immense peace, not only in this song but with all the songs of this new production, the maturity that she has achieved in all these years is very noticeable. "Liar" is a super slow song which is perfect to listen to with headphones and just do nothing, enjoy it and that's it. It tells us that there is nothing to be ashamed of if we are in love, love is something that doesn't have to be ashamed of and she was lying to her partner because she had that feeling. The way she interprets it, the tone of her voice, everything makes it sincerely a gem of a song besides the music, the intro is spectacular, a very noticeable softness and the same drums come with a super interesting rhythm, very jazzy. The whole song has a lot of quality, I think I had not heard something similar to Paramore so the surprise was very pleasant. Go and listen to the album, it's called "This is Why" and it's a real treat.
- Screaming Suicide - Metallica
The quality, no matter how many years go by, will always remain intact. That's what I think of Metallica. Always faithful to their sound and their style, James, Lars, Kirk and Rob bring us a song that can be sensitive given the subject matter, they talk about suicide but from a fighting and hopeful point of view. Basically it is not to be defeated by those impulses, it is to listen to that inner voice that is out there and that can tell us that we are worth for this world, that we are doing well even if you are not able to see it and keep that word out of your vocabulary. Personally it's not my favorite Metallica song by far but I like that they keep releasing music in a world where it seems that there are less and less metalheads and rockers. The song has the same structure of almost all of their songs and that's fine, Lars' quality is still paralyzed with time, in him the years don't advance, he still sounds the same as 20 years ago. And James' voice is another one that doesn't get old, one of my top three vocalists ever, it's impressive how characteristic it is. Long live Metallica, good song with ten lyrics and the same sound as always.
