Regular cards sometimes are the best option (EN-ES)
Hello Splinterlands friends, these last weeks I am dedicating to play Splinterlands tournaments.
In them we can get good rewards in addition to learning to play against opponents of all kinds.
In today's post I'm going to tell you about one of those battles in which everything was against me but I ended up winning in a masterful way.
Regular cards are sometimes the best option
In many occasions we go crazy looking for legendary cards in our collection to select them in a combat without stopping to think that there are common or rare cards that can be of more help and give us better results.
That's what happened to me in this match in which I decided to use rare and common cards after thinking a lot about the strategy.
Due to the conditions of the combat, I was sure that my opponent would play with the Splinter Earth and all my strategy was focused on trying to avoid his magic attacks.
The Combat
Just by looking at my opponent's cards I could already imagine that the fight was not going to be easy. In addition, the Splintertools tool gave me only a 14% chance of winning the match. I think everything was against me. So without hope I started to watch the fight. And the following happened:
vs. Death | Briar Patch |
My strategy was going to be simple, as a summoner I selected Grandmaster Rathe since I sensed that my opponent would play with magic attack creatures. Also thanks to the combat condition Briar Patch if I used melee attack creatures I would suffer double damage from the Thorns thanks to the summoner's Amplify.
Next were to come low mana cost creatures Vulguine, Soul Fiend, Pelacor Conjurer, Celestial Harpy, Pelacor Arbalest and Time Mage.
My enemy played with very powerful cards, as a summoner he chose Obsidian. Then Fungus Fiend, Lord Arianthus, Swamp Thing, Queen Mycelia, Doctor Blight, Djinn Biljka. All legendary cards and one epic.
And as it turned out, the match was really easy. The Target Practice condition made all his creatures attack Pelacor Conjurer and thanks to his Magic Reflect he returned the attacks doing double damage thanks to Amplify from the summoner. So little by little his creatures were eliminated by his own attacks while Pelacor Arbalest mercilessly hit the opponent's creatures.
Finally in a few turns I was able to achieve a victory that at first glance seemed impossible to reach.
Conclusion
Many times we complicate our lives looking for the best and rarest cards we have in our collection without stopping to think and select the most useful ones.
It often happens to me that I take for granted that the legendary card is the one that will solve the combat when in reality a common or rare card can improve my strategy. That is why it is very important in Splinterlands not to get carried away by the desire to use our legendary cards and use our common sense to select those cards that we really believe are ideal for use in combat.

This is a great composition against magic attacks, it is hard for me to see Pelacor Conjurer at this level using his Reflect ability, the composition would be unbeatable if he got some monster with the Silence ability to diminish all the enemy's magic attack.
