The Black Phone | it has always been there, do you hear it ringing?

The hype that this movie caused me was too much for me not to see it, I did not know what it was about, I had not seen the trailer, I had not read any synopsis, I only knew that it was among the best horror movies of the year, and considering that several friends were saying so, and how we have similar tastes and/or similar opinions about what can be a good movie, I did not hesitate to see it, even when I did not know what it was about, beyond that there was a black phone, and that Ethan Hawke was the bad guy in the movie.

There is a person who kidnaps children and they are never seen again, one of those children becomes Finney, together with him we will meet the kidnapper, we will see where he gets to have the children, what he does with them, we will also meet the black phone, who gives its title to this film, which is also inspired by a story that also has the same name. That's the plot, it's nothing big, it does have a big twist that changes everything, at least it did for me, as I had no information I was too surprised, but after watching the trailer I realize that I already knew everything that was happening and I was a little disappointed.

El hype que me causó esta película fue demasiado como para que no la viera, no sabía de qué era, no había visto el trailer, tampoco había leído alguna sinopsis, solo sabía que estaba entre las mejores películas de terror del año, y teniendo en cuenta que varios amigos lo estaban diciendo, y cómo tenemos gustos parecidos y/u opiniones similares al respecto de lo que puede llegar a ser una buena película, no dudé en verla, incluso cuando no sabía de qué trataba, más allá de que había un teléfono negro, y que Ethan Hawke era el malo de la película.

Hay una persona que secuestra niños y estos nunca más vuelven a ser vistos, uno de esos niños llega a ser Finney, junto a él conoceremos al secuestrador, veremos donde llega a tener a los niños, qué hace con ellos, también vamos a conocer el teléfono negro, quien le da su título a esta película, que además está inspirada en un cuento que también tiene el mismo nombre. Esa es la trama, no es nada del otro mundo, sí tiene un gran giro que llega a cambiar todo, al menos lo hizo para mí, como no tenía nada de información me sorprendí demasiado, pero después de ver el trailer me doy cuenta de que ya se sabía todo lo que estaba pasando y me desilusionó un poco.

There's one thing I don't like about these types of movies, and that's the fact that it's always the adults who get all the credit and the kids are overshadowed, leaving them in the dark without much recognition, and here the main character, Finney, played by Mason Thames, is a wonderful thing who deserves to be praised and recognized for his performance. Yes, Ethan Hawke I did very well, but that doesn't mean Mason Thames should be forgotten, and that's something they almost always do. I think the one exception to that rule was in Jojo Rabbit, impossible not to put Roman Griffin Davis on the stand.

Another thing I don't like about this specific movie is that it's predictable, the trailer tells you too much, it spoilers, the plot never changes, you know everything that's going to happen, and that's it, that's it. Considering that it could be a very bad movie that you don't know why it's famous, or good, but the reality is another, and I like this reality a lot. The way we were given all the elements of this movie is what makes it so good, even though it might not be; I didn't know it was from the same director as Sinister, but I wasn't surprised, as many of the scenes reminded me too much of that movie, at least in a good way, it wasn't a bad memory.

Hay algo que no me gusta de este tipo de películas, y es el hecho de que siempre los adultos reciben todo el crédido y los niños son eclipsados, dejándolos en la oscuridad sin muchos reconocimientos, y aquí el protagonista, Finney, interpretado por Mason Thames, es una cosa maravillosa que merece ser alabado y reconocido por su actuación. Sí, Ethan Hawke lo hice muy bien, pero no por eso hay que olvidarse de Mason Thames, y eso es algo que casi siempre hacen. Creo que la única excepción a esa regla fue en Jojo Rabbit, imposible no poner en el estrado a Roman Griffin Davis.

Otra cosa que no me gusta de esta película en específico es que es predecible, el trailer te dice demasiado, hace spoiler, la trama nunca cambia, se sabe todo lo que va a suceder, y ya, eso es todo. Teniendo en cuenta eso podría ser una película muy mala que no se sabe por qué es famosa, o buena, pero la realidad es otra, y esta realidad me gusta mucho. La forma en que nos dieron todos los elementos de esta película es lo que la hace tan buena, a pesar de que podría no ser así; no sabía que era del mismo director que Sinister, pero no me sorprendió, pues muchas de las escenas me recordaron demasiado a esa película, al menos en buena forma, no fue un recuerdo malo.

It had been too long that a movie didn't scare me, and this happened when Finney is talking to someone on the black phone and suddenly we see the ghost of the dead boy next to him, this comes out in the trailer, so don't blame me for saying it, I didn't expect that, although my instinct told me that it was possible that it would happen, but it surprised me too much and scared me, something that had too long without happening to me, it was at that moment that I completely fell in love with the movie and said that no matter how it ended I was going to like it completely.

I forgot what I was going to say in this paragraph. The ending is one of my favorite things about the movie, but only because there was no other way for it to end, we had the two possible scenarios, one good and one bad, both were going to be perfect from any point of view, and while the one they gave us was very good, I loved it, it made me cry, I would have wanted them to give us the other ending that everyone was hoping for but they didn't dare to make it happen. It's a good thing and a bad thing at the same time, but it's satisfying after all.

Tenía demasiado tiempo que una película no me asustaba, y esto sucedió cuando Finney está hablando con alguien por el teléfono negro y de repente vemos el fantasma del niño muerto junto a él, esto sale en el trailer, así que no me culpen por decirlo, yo no esperaba eso, aunque mi instintio me decía que era posible que sucediera, pero me sorprendió demasiado y me asustó, cosa que tenía demasiado tiempo sin sucederme, fue en ese momento que me enamoré por completo de la película y dije que sin importar cómo terminara me iba a gustar por completo.

Olvidé lo que iba a decir en este párrafo. El final es una de mis cosas favoritas de la película, pero solo porque no había otra forma en que terminara, teníamos los dos posibles escenarios, uno bueno y uno malo, ambos iban a ser perfectos desde cualquier punto de vista, y si bien el que nos dieron fue muy bueno, lo amé, me hizo llorar, hubiera querido que nos dieran el otro final que todo el mundo esperaba pero que no se atrevieron a hace realidad. Es algo bueno y algo malo a la vez, pero es satisfactorio después de todo.

I don't recommend you to watch the trailer, but I still leave it, really don't watch the trailer, it says a lot more things than I got to say here, and that's a big difference, because I could have done spoilers for many things that happen in the movie, but I decided not to, the trailer already does it without anyone's help. This movie is filled with a lot of suspense, and it's wonderful, but that doesn't make it the best in the world, and to expect otherwise is very wrong.

No les recomiendo ver el trailer, pero igual se los dejo, de verdad no vean el trailer, dice muchas más cosas de las que yo llegué a decir aquí, y eso es una gran diferencia, porque bien pude haber hecho spoilers de muchas cosas de las que suceden en la película, pero decidí no hacerlo, el trailer ya lo hace sin ayuda de nadie. Esta película está llena de mucho suspenso, y es maravillosa, pero no por eso es la mejor del mundo, y esperar otra cosa está muy mal.
