Retro Music week 8 / Cover "Heart of Gold - Neil Young" by @jasperdick (ENG/ESP)
Hello everybody on Hive and especially the Hive Music Community! My name is @jasperdick and I'm writing (and singing) to you from Cape Town, South Africa!
This is Week 8 of the “Retro Music” challenge! The aim of the game is to play a cover of anything from the 1920s to the 1990s, anything that would be considered a bit “Retro” in this day and age, which opens up a world of possibilities!
I now seem to be drifting from songs from the 1950’s more into music from the 1960’s and 1970’s that I grew up with because my parents were music lovers! This week I want to play you one of Neil Young’s most famous songs “Heart of Gold” off the “Harvest” album of 1972, which also had many of his other best songs. Apparently out of all of Neil Young’s brilliant songs (“Harvest Moon”, “Old Man”, “Needle and the Damage Done”, etc), “Heart of Gold” is his only US. Number 1 single!
Here is the original version of “Heart of Gold”:
Lyrics for “Heart of Gold” by Neil Young
I want to live
I want to give
I've been a miner for a heart of gold
It's these expressions
I never give
That keep me searching for a heart of gold
And I'm getting old
Keep me searching for a heart of gold
And I'm getting old
I've been to Hollywood
I've been to Redwood
I crossed the ocean for a heart of gold
I've been in my mind
It's such a fine line
That keeps me searching for a heart of gold
And I'm getting old
Keeps me searching for a heart of gold
And I'm getting old
Keep me searching for a heart of gold
You keep me searching and I'm growing old
Keep me searching for a heart of gold
I've been a miner for a heart of gold

Aparentemente, de todas las brillantes canciones de Neil Young ("Harvest Moon", "Old Man", "Needle and the Damage Done", etc.), "Heart of Gold" es su única canción estadounidense.
quiero vivir
y me estoy haciendo viejo
Mantenme buscando un corazón de oro
y me estoy haciendo viejo
he estado en hollywood
he estado en secoya
he estado en mi mente
y me estoy haciendo viejo
Me mantiene buscando un corazón de oro
y me estoy haciendo viejo
Mantenme buscando un corazón de oro
Me mantienes buscando y estoy envejeciendo

Great artist, nicely done, I have the original up in the cupboard in vinyl too...

Upvoted 👌 (Mana: 35/75) Liquid rewards.
I've got it on vinyl, too! It's one of my more used albums.
Our original collection in vinyl still in tact, excellent condition with inner and outer sleeves.
That's awesome. I'd like to see the system you use to play them.
JVC turntable, equalizer, tape deck, all went to my brother with the large speakers cement base. Replaced with Sansui rig with separate equalizer, moved all our music onto tapes, later CD's currently all digitally stored, hubby sold the system to my despair. Will look around for good second hand perhaps one day, now rely on the digital record which is not bad.
This is really nice, you've done a great job. I'd never have the courage to do this so I applaud those who can; of course, I can't sing or play the guitar so the point is moot. Well done.

Que artista tan bueno, excelente hermano gran trabajo y excelente presentación
Love that you added the harmonica. Very nice touch. This is an absolute classic.
This is amazing man, playing guitar and harmonica together. Everything was so in sync, your voice, your guitar. Totally enjoyed this man.
