SURFING (ENG/POR): Winter is here!

Hello everyone, and especially the SurfHive Community! It's Jasper, the musical-surfer dad from Cape Town in South Africa.

Last time I posted about surfing I was singing the praises of autumn/early winter in Cape Town - when the skies are blue but the weather is moderate (not too hot) and the wind is soft or nearly gone!

One last Session like that...

Now winter is here!

Since then we have had a couple of weeks of intense storms, flooding, people's home's leaking, trees collapsing and even a few rooves being blown off!

Some people have managed to have fun with the crazy weather...

Stormy seas meant waves pushing up the river mouths. Here my friend Justin Stevens snapped a picture of his daughter seeing how far inland she could go! Hahaha!

Even further inland, some local Muizenberg kids found that the grassy hill in the park was flooded, and were getting long rides by taking the fins out of their boards! Picture by Nigel Riley

When the weekend came, I was able to get out there myself:

It rained while I was out there...

...which meant a beautiful rainbow afterwards...

A tiny fish jumped on my board... this happened last time I surfed this spot! What are the chances?

More bad weather and huge swells are predicted soon! Hopefully I can find a bit of a sheltered spot to surf and not die! See you soon!

Olá a todos, e especialmente à Comunidade SurfHive! É Jasper, o pai surfista musical da Cidade do Cabo, na África do Sul.

A última vez que postei sobre surf eu estava cantando louvores ao outono/início do inverno na Cidade do Cabo - quando o céu está azul, mas o clima é moderado (não muito quente) e o vento está suave ou quase acabando!

Uma última sessão como essa...

Agora o inverno chegou!

Desde então, tivemos algumas semanas de tempestades intensas, inundações, vazamentos em casas de pessoas, árvores desabando e até alguns telhados sendo arrancados!

Algumas pessoas conseguiram se divertir com o clima maluco...

Mares tempestuosos significavam ondas empurrando a foz dos rios. Aqui meu amigo Justin Stevens tirou uma foto de sua filha vendo até onde ela poderia ir para o interior! Hahaha!

Ainda mais para o interior, algumas crianças locais de Muizenberg descobriram que a colina gramada do parque estava inundada e estavam fazendo longos passeios tirando as nadadeiras das pranchas! Foto de Nigel Riley

Quando chegou o fim de semana, eu mesmo consegui sair:

Choveu enquanto eu estava lá...

...o que significou um lindo arco-íris depois...

Um peixinho pulou na minha prancha... isso aconteceu da última vez que surfei nesse spot! Quais são as chances?

Mais mau tempo e grandes ondas estão previstos em breve! Espero poder encontrar um local protegido para surfar e não morrer! Vejo você em breve!
