Rediscovering Downtown Cebu

Hey, beautiful people of Hive! I hope you're all doing well. As the year is about to end, i wasn't able to use my leave credits for the year so this week, i was granted 5 days leave of absence (a.k.a Mandatory Leave). Some people book flights, may it be local or foreign travel, but in my case, I don't really have any plans at hand on my mandatory leave. My only goal is to be productive while taking some time out from work. I want to maximize my time by going to neighborhood places and explore the city in my own terms and would love to take you guys with me on this whole week of "no work" day.

Monday

I went to downtown Cebu to visit Sto Nino de Cebu since it has been so long since i last visited the church. For those who don't know yet, i'm a devotee of the Black Nazarene and used to visit the church every Saturday during college days. It was 2pm when I arrive at the Downtown Cebu and decided to eat Kwek kwek and tempura first before entering the church, just like the old times. Eating these delicious snacks turns me back in time like nothing has changed. The food still tastes the same. However, I was appalled to know that the increase in price of 1 serving is almost doubled. Inflation is crazy!

There are other street foods in the hallway going to the church too. The scorching heat almost tempted me to try these milk drinks. Unfortunately, I have a sensitive stomach so I opted to skip the drinks.

These native fans made of woven bamboos are quite famous in this area. It gives off blustery wind, I tell you! I'm just not sure of these are hand made, though.

I was about to enter the church when the security guards didn't allow me to go inside because of my sleeveless attire. Unfortunately, I forgot they have dress codes for visitors to be able to go inside the church. I said my prayers just outside the vicinity and went away.

I continued my food trip with tacos and halo-halo at My Joy. In case you ask, yes, these are good for one only haha.
