Walking Back In Time At Old Hong Kong
22 February 2023
Happy humpday #WednesdayWalk Community and to its creator @tattoodjay.
Have you read my recent blog about Ocean Park Hong Kong rides? If not, then you are missing out on so much fun. It was such a wonderful experience and after a year of yearning for those rides, I finally tried them. There are a lot more rides that I haven't tried, but hopefully, I can try them next year.
Aside from rides, there are a plethora of attractions in this theme park. And one of them is Old Hong Kong street. It's not literally an old place, but a replica of old Hong Kong. And from the name itself, you already have a hint of what the place is all about.
You would feel the nostalgia as you walk along Old Hong Kong street. It would bring you back to the 20th century. Given that I wasn't born here, there are no clear insights into how this country looked like in the past, except for those scenes I've seen in movies.
The collections of collective memories of old Hong Kong were placed along the whole street below the waterfront cable car station. I truly felt like walking back in time seeing old HK architecture, the heritage tram, HK street food stalls, an old red telephone booth, a whisky bar, there are even old-school shops and an old theatre.
The shops were turned into souvenir shops and gaming booths. The whiskey bar is now selling Hong Kong food and refreshments. I wasn't sure if the theatre still works but it was temporarily closed for some reason. Along with the nostalgic street, the sea-themed carousel is also one of the main attractions as well as those cable cars passing overhead.
While writing this, I was thinking about, what if we can walk back in time? I have a lot of things to change in the past. But those would definitely change the present too if I do so. So why not walk in the present and do something that would change the future for good? That would be great.
If you happen to visit Ocean Park Hong Kong someday, you must visit this place too. I heard the entrance fee for sight-seeing in Ocean Park isn't costly. And you just need to pay separately if you want to ride on different rides.
This koala is another attraction at the entranceway to Old Hong Kong. There are seats and tables too for those who want to have their snacks or simply take a rest.
That would be all for today. Thanks for stopping by.

And so nostalgic hehe..thanks
I love the old parts of cities. It's best to see them untouched but I understand why all can't be that way or why replicas are done. It's nice to walk and feel how things may have been.
A city near me has an old market maybe I give everyone a walk of mine there sometime. I enjoyed your walk thanks for sharing.
You should show us some spots of your place 😊
Perhaps when it warms up :)
Hola que hermosas fotos...

So that's how old HK looks like.. it's interesting. The font style of the names of the establishments are really nice.

Panu mo nadi distinguish yung font style? 😅 ako feel ko same lang nmn mga yan sa iba haha .

While looking at the photos, I felt like I was in an old movie. Beautiful. Many times I wish to go back to the past, but you are right, since that is impossible, it is better to walk in the present and try to make our future better.
Another wonder in HK :) Glad you were able to check the place out. Beautiful photos as always!
