Remarkable Christmas Tour Around Hong Kong Island
December 29, 2023
My Christmas was filled with captivating and immersive experiences on a bus' top deck as I toured around the bustling cities of Hong Kong Island with captivating cityscapes, iconic landmarks, historical sites, and other awe-inspiring beauty.
After attending the Christmas mass and meeting a friend, we walked toward the promenade as we planned to ride the iconic Hong Kong bus tour around different cities of Hong Kong Island. Instead of hiking Victoria Peak and taking a tram, as our original plan called for, we decided to take a tour of Hong Kong Island because we were running short on time and it was already afternoon. We both wore the headbands with the Christmas ornament I bought along with her gift. They look cute, especially when the lights are on at night.
We expected the crowd since it was Christmas day. People were swarming along the promenade and inside the AIA carnival. We followed through on our plan to take the top-deck bus tour instead of attending the nighttime world circus spectacle, as the tickets were very pricey.
The length of the line for the Hong Kong bus trip surprised us. It took us about an hour to get in, but we were happy to find a place on the open deck where we could sit and enjoy the nighttime views of the city while taking pictures.
Because of the long queue, our afternoon tour became a night tour. That was made much more enjoyable by Hong Kong's breathtaking nighttime backdrop, which included numerous skyscrapers adorned in bright, sparkling lights and Christmas decorations .
For the best one-ride sightseeing experience to see Hong Kong landmarks, historical places, and other points of interest from the open-top deck, riding a bus tour is the best way I could recommend. We paid HK$41 and the tour goes to five cities around Hong Kong Island. It's a one-hour tour full of fun and joy.
From the top deck, we were able to see various skyscrapers and felt as though we were right next to them. The tour bus left from Central Harborfront and traveled through the streets of Mid-Level Central, Admiralty, Wanchai, Causeway Bay, and finally Tsim Sha Tsui. Although it returns to Central, we chose to make a stop at Tsim Sha Tsui instead, where we enjoyed our ordinary Christmas dinner.
Tsim Sha Tsui was undoubtedly the most beautiful of all the cities. How I wish I had a DSLR camera so I could get better pictures. However, our pictures are really not that bad. The waterfront is made more visually appealing by the Christmas lights hanging from some iconic structures. Cities' walkways and streets are lined with festive attractions and eye-catching light displays. Visitors couldn't resist pulling out their phones to record every moment throughout the journey. Additionally, we went through a tunnel, and the driver startled us when he accelerated. The open-top deck gave the impression that we were on a roller coaster. The wind was really cold, and I felt cold the whole way. Some guests even made jokes about raising their hands in the style of a scene from a roller coaster. It was truly enjoyable. Look what we spotted. Two Santas were climbing the building. Were they sneaking out the gifts inside their bags? They looked hilarious but cute. The traffic was backed up at this point, which allowed us additional time to take pictures of those interesting structures. And who's wearing shades at night? To be honest, I was too sluggish to take off my shades and put on my glasses, so I left them on. Either way, they look great with my jacket. Looking at my photos, I wanted to try this tour in the daytime. City views must be prettier and clearer. The world-class K11 Musea behind me is stunning at both day and night time. We took selfies on the open-top deck with the famous Clock Tower as our tour bus came to an end close to the Tsim Sha Tsui waterfront. We went by some iconic landmarks and historical sites; sadly, my photos turned out to be blurry, so I won't post them here. When we arrived, it was almost eight o'clock at night, and the symphony of lights was about to begin along with the fireworks display. But as it was becoming late, we went ahead and found a place to eat dinner and left TST because my friend had a curfew of 9 p.m., and I didn't want her to be late. This year's Christmas was spent with a friend, unlike previous years, and I was sincerely grateful for that. In addition, I had amazing experiences once more that I will always treasure. It was a great Christmas experience, and I'm looking forward to the New Year to be even better. I'll be celebrating the new year, on January 1st, with other Filipinos. That's so exciting! 😊 We who work overseas may have difficult lives, but we should make the most of them however we can. That's all for now. Advance Happy New Year everyone! Wow beautiful skyline views. I bet being in the open area of the bus, you felt some cold. Glad your in good company with a friend on Christmas. Here most of us Americans spend time inside on Christmas day. Not sure about the large cities never been to them on Christmas.
Hoping you have a great time NY day with your fellow Filipinos. I will stay at home both NY eve and day. I probably won't see the new year until I wake up that morning, haha. I'll watch the parades and floats on t.v. NY day. I know boring old man 😂

Haha.. Is there a fireworks display in your place? Maybe you can watch it with your son...
Anyway, I used to do that when the 31st falls on working days..gladly, it falls on Sunday this year, so we have a chance to enjoy it... Then Jan 1 is a public holiday..
So it's 2 holidays in a row for us this year ☺️
Yeah there is fireworks but I will probably sleep right through them. I'll probably wake up as some are going to bed. Yeah the holidays falling on Monday is nice. Isn't the 2nd a holiday there 😉 hehe
Interesting to hear how the afternoon ride turned to a night ride. But you should have definitely enjoyed the night ride - first it was an open deck on top of the bus secondly, the lightings should be more attractive. So no worries. Happy Christmas time.
